Once again, ABC didn’t announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but we know the show wasn’t cancelled either. The network just kept it on the air. Will General Hospital survive to see a 59th season for the 2021-22 broadcast season? Could it possibly be cancelled mid-year? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.
Debuting in 1963 on April 1st, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. The current season’s cast includes Maurice Benard, Steve Burton, Marcus Coloma, William deVry, Chad Duell, Michael Easton, Genie Francis, Nancy Lee Grahn, Briana Henry, Rebecca Herbst, Roger Howarth, Finola Hughes, William Lipton, Katelyn MacMullen, Sofia Mattsson, Eden McCoy, Sydney Mikayla, Kelly Monaco, Ingo Rademacher, Wes Ramsey, Emme Rylan, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Donnell Turner, Cynthia Watros, Maura West, and Laura Wright.

For comparisons: The 2019-20 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.17 million total viewers.

Please I’m begging you to keep GH alive for many years to come. Already lost my other ABC soaps, GH is all I have left! I’ve been watching since I was like 12 and I’m 53 now.
I love it…. Has become my number one ever since CBS canceled ATWT.

PLEASE don’t cancel GH!!!!! It’s been my mainstay since 1980 when I was in 10th grade. My friends and I (male and female) would run home after school to toon in and watch Luke and Laura. The show remains one of my favorite indulgences! I love the humor, wit, excitement and heartfelt writing and the actors who play out the scenes!!! I watch it on Hulu and never miss it. My 4 children have grow up with it. Never cancel!!!!!!!!
I will be so upset if they cancel General Hospital!! I almost died when they canceled All My Children and One Life to Live I will NEVER WATCH ANY OTHER day time show, ever !! When I see one it sounds different and acting is horrible!!! I’ll watch the View and prime time . I’m disabled and I don’t have much to do but watch my shows in the afternoon . I am a senior citizen that is tired of being overlooked because i dont fit into your demographics. which makes no sense. All we have is time to watch the shows we like. I am not the normal old person when it comes to shows i watch. E.g. the originals charmed legacies. Htgawm supernatural. Etc. I dont have cable because i cant afford it. I have been watching General Hospital for almost 50 years. In order for GH to succeed, TPTB must fire Frank and his writers. The show has zero consistency, imagination and it disrespect the characters of the show and its viewers. Bring back Wendy Riche as EP she knows how to balance storylines between the hospital and the mob element. Traditions with great storylines is missing. Characters that should be involved in a story is missing more than half of the time. Rewriting the rich family histories are out of control and have zero merit or believability. General Hospital is intergenerational. Now that my mom lives with us, she remembers when she watched and she can share those early episodes with me. I’ve been watching since college days and since working and continuing now, General Hospital is always recorded so not 1 episode is missed. Please continue General Hospital, its a spot in my day
It’s a classic. General Hospital Absolutely should stay on. Taking one life to live off the air was horrible. My whole neighborhood watches it. We want our daytime stories to stay.
Of course I am and will always and forever be a General hospital fan I started watching this show with my mom since 1985!! I still remember sitting on the couch arguing with my mom cause we were both wanting different outcomes to a specific story lol. Also cause I wouldn’t want to go to school cause I would miss seeing General hospital and my mom and I both had no idea how to record the show. Been watching it off and on since my mom watched it way back when I was very young. And I admit I still like it. It becomes a bellweather in a sort of way. That things are “still ok in the world” that General Hospital is still on . It is a good getaway. A good release. But I agree, with a lot of folks commenting ..I do get annoyed with grandizing the “poor misunderstood ” mob family. Boring and wrong. That’s way too much and way too tiring. Of course, keep GH on air. As a fan of 40 yrs, I’ve watched thru tours of duty in the Navy (only missing during bootcamp), two marriages, two children, Hurricane Katrina, the sudden death of one of my children, and now Covid19. GH is my outlet, my mental getaway, my connection to stories like my own. Granted it’s fictional, but they’ve done a phenomenal job touching real subjects over the years. Covid has taken enough from us. Don’t let it take our escape. Thx to all who make it the success it is!
Ok so I’m still a Fan of GH but I feel it’s going back to the sonny and Carly show. Give others some more story line time. More Laura,Bobby and Scott and Lucy. Another ideal which may bring in some new viewers. How about some short stories with some of the OLTL and AMC characters pass thru Port Charles. Like when you had Nora come to town you could have her join with Diane or Scott( how fun would that be) in a law office and she pops in from landview here and there. What a great idea! Opal and roxy ( though now there’s a bearded dragon by her name)! This would be a great draw for former OlTL and AMC viewers to come on board and watch GH!
