Once again, ABC didn’t announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but we know the show wasn’t cancelled either. The network just kept it on the air. Will General Hospital survive to see a 59th season for the 2021-22 broadcast season? Could it possibly be cancelled mid-year? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.
Debuting in 1963 on April 1st, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. The current season’s cast includes Maurice Benard, Steve Burton, Marcus Coloma, William deVry, Chad Duell, Michael Easton, Genie Francis, Nancy Lee Grahn, Briana Henry, Rebecca Herbst, Roger Howarth, Finola Hughes, William Lipton, Katelyn MacMullen, Sofia Mattsson, Eden McCoy, Sydney Mikayla, Kelly Monaco, Ingo Rademacher, Wes Ramsey, Emme Rylan, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Donnell Turner, Cynthia Watros, Maura West, and Laura Wright.

For comparisons: The 2019-20 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.17 million total viewers.

I think the ratings are actually much higher, but the system hasn’t caught up, and that’s a bit of a problem, making it look like less interest than there is, I mean that’s a good addition of viewers, but many people don’t even watch on network tv anymore, millions of people watch GH for example, all around the world now, but they may be watching from hulu, youtube premium, amazon prime, and other such sites, They may not respond to surveys and they aren’t able to be tracked, (I guess if companies like hulu cooperated they could tally hits on… Read more »
I have been watching General Hospital since 1977. Places I have work always had a lot of people that watched it as well as all my sisters. It is the best soap on TV and best show on ABC. These reality shows are for kids. A lot of us still like a good story. My only problem is things did start to slip into “Bizarro Land” when I started to see the name Luck Gold as a writer. Get rid of the amnesiac storyline sonny/mike. Nina is a predator vile sneaky deranged woman. Peter should not be given free run of GH because of his relationship with Laura off screen. He is dark and evil kills people with no remorse he must must be put down yesterday. Bring Lulu and Hayden back and franco but he must come back for liz. Jordan ia a terrible police commissioner therefore bring anna back as Commissioner and a love relationship for her and Valentin. Finn with hayden and violet. Please put Jason & Sam back together. Have been watching them since 2004. Sonny & Carly; Jason & Sam are friends & family on GH. Love that Carly & Sam finally became friends.
Please do NOT cancel Gh ive been watching since 1974 us a young boy its writing has improved so much in the last 2 years and it is a landmark of television history ..there is no reason to cancel it it has viewers n sure it dosent cost that much to keep it on the air.n make many of us fans very happy as we are loyal fans.thank you for your understandng hearts to just keep it on the air the loyalty comes from streaming on abc app n daily motion we dont miss it ..so please look at all… Read more »
General Hospital is my favorite show of all and would like to have it 7 days a week. The writing is spot on.
Please don’t cancel General Hospital. It was a huge mistake to cancel OLTL, & AMC. Those shows had been on the air for decades. Their replacements haven’t lasted nearly as long.
The only thing that I still watch on ABC is
GH.
I don’t know how many people have boycotted ABC after you cancelled the soaps that many of us have watched for decades.
Can you really afford to loses more watchers?
Do not cancel GH!!! I’ve been watching since the Luke and Laura disco days. I’m 53 and look forward to it every day and get disgruntled when it is pre-empted for anything else! I even watched the reruns in 2020!
Please never cancel General Hospital its my favorite show I watch. I watched with my great grandmother and my grandmother my mother and my Dad because he worked from home. I even watched with my college friends and now my husband. Please please please keep it going. Also please offer for its fans to watch all seasons from the beginning!
I am 69 and watching back with Dr. Steve Hardy etc came right home from school to watch. My husband makes sure I am home by 2PM . Please do not cancel. I have even set alarm 2:30am to wake up to watch due to covid updates
I absolutely love General Hospital I’ve been watching since grammar school and I’m 64 now. Please keep this show on the air I would be lost without it.
