As usual, ABC didn’t announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but we know the show wasn’t cancelled either. The network just kept the series on the air for this, its 60th anniversary season. Will General Hospital survive to see the 2023-24 network TV season? Could ABC announce a renewal this time around, or could it be dropped? Stay tuned.
Debuting in 1963 on April 1st, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. Actors appearing in the current season include Tabyana Ali, Tajh Bellow, Maurice Benard, Nicholas Chavez, Marcus Coloma, Chad Duell, Michael Easton, Genie Francis, Robert Gossett, Nancy Lee Grahn, Tanisha Harper, Gregory Harrison, Rebecca Herbst, Roger Howarth, Finola Hughes, Josh Kelly, Brook Kerr, Katelyn MacMullen, Cameron Mathison, Sofia Mattsson, Eden McCoy, Kelly Monaco, Avery Kristen Pohl, Amanda Setton, Charles Shaughnessy, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Kelly Thiebaud, Donnell Turner, Kristina Wagner, Cynthia Watros, Maura West, Laura Wright, and Dominic Zamprogna.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The 2021-22 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.16 million total viewers.

I absolutely love General Hospital. I’ve been watching it everyday since I was 9 yrs old and I’m 52. Whether it’s watching, recording or now watching it thru Hulu, I never miss a day. I pray it is always renewed
I’d come back and happily watch again if they’d get rid of the bigot Nancy Lee Grahn.
How they have an actor representing their show who wishes people death openly is mind boggling.
Politics shouldn’t incite such hate.

Please keep General Hospital going, I’ve been watching it for over 30 years and I don’t know what I would do without it. I have come to a love, hate relationship with all the characters on the show. How many of the negative ratings dates occurred on the MANY pre-emoted dates that ABC ran news that MANY people ever watch. The evening and ALL news shows give this info. ABC needs to quit canceling Mon-Friday GH shows. YOU ARE NOT CATERING TO THE MAJORITY, and when GH is cancelled for news most of the world is SICK OF because it’s politically driven, I quit watching ABC. YOU ARE JUST SETTING YOURSELVES UP TO LISE EVEN MORE VIEWERS. TOO FEW PEOPLE CARE.
I have been a faithful viewer of General Hospital for 58 years. I hope and pray it will go for another 60 years. Happy Anniversary GH !!!
I have watched since a small child. My mom and grandma loved the show. I still watch them and love them. I hope they never take GH away. It’s the only one we have left. I have my husband watching it now he loves the show also. Happy 60th anniversary GH been apart of my life for 47 yrs. Can remember back to about 4yrs old watching. 43yrs ago.

GH has been in a toilet spiral since they threw Jason Morgan under the bus for the second time in a decade. Since then, the entire show has revolved around a sickening character named Parasite Nina, and right now, they’re literally trying to force all the other characters to worship this useless piece of dragon****. I always have to record General Hospital, so I am sure to never miss an episode. I do wish the time of day that it airs was a little earlier or later in the day as the hour it airs seems to be the time of choice for government announcements, etc. that interrupt the program fairly frequently, so I end up recording those, as well. I enjoy the characters and think the show is well-written. I especially like that the storyline moves along quickly…not like some that will air the same day of the show for several “real” days in… Read more »
I have watched this show for almost 60 years. I am 63 watched it with my mother, through college and still now. But I think having a particular actor voice their political views can be detrimental to a serial like this. They are portraying characters on a daily basis, no one wants to hear about their personal issues. This is escapism. For one hour a day you can let your mind rest. I completely agree with you and I have been a fan for 45 years straight, plus watched as a child with my grandmother. I love watching something to escape the life’s challenges and enjoy most storylines. I do feel ABC and GH have ‘disposed of’ a couple of actors due to their stance and political views which is very said, especially for veteran actors, they are still missed! But it seems one particular actress can take her political views to a public forum and as obnoxious, insulting and ignorant as she is, she remains on the GH cast. I honestly… Read more »

Love General Hospital. Watched it since the 70’s.
Love General Hospital since the 1960’s. Love the story lines, adore the actors. It will be sorely missed if taken off the air. It is loving and caring especially when the shows story line shows afflictions that affect people and at the end of the episode a actor will give information where to go for help. It is not only a soap but a soap with information that can help someone.
