There’s been some talk of Grey’s Anatomy possibly ending this season but that kind of chatter is nothing new. Would ABC really consider letting its highest-rated scripted series come to an end — even if some of the show’s stars want to leave? Will Grey’s Anatomy be cancelled or renewed for season 18? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
Grey’s Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, Jesse Williams, Camilla Luddington, Caterina Scorsone, Kelly McCreary, Giacomo Gianniotti, Chris Carmack, Jake Borelli, Greg Germann, Richard Flood, and Anthony Hill. The long-running series revolves around the personal and professional lives of the surgical residents, fellows, and attendings in the surgical wing of the fictional Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle, Washington. They seek comfort from one another, and, at times, more than just friendship. Together they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.

*5/10/2021 update: Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for an 18th season on ABC.
Greys anatomy has really lost my interest. Meredith in a coma…. yawn… covid and Black Lives Matter and dream sequences and depression….
I want to be entertained… not preached to.
it’s a shame… I was a follower since the very beginning.
none of my friends watch it now either. We used to have so much fun rehashing each episode.
I’m watching the reruns , quite frankly the show sucks and a little to woke for me. The reruns are the best!
This show sucks. So does Ellen Pompeo. Cancel it already, all the good characters have been killed off. Time to get rid of her too.
Grey’s Anatomy is a glorious anamoly to the entertainment business that it remains fresh as there are endless possibilities for the characters to evolve and new ones added. No other show is capable of realistically dramaticing the horrors of COVID-19 pandemic while soothing the fears it brings. It is a powerful asset to Disney / ABC. Not only is it still the top rated drama series for ABC, but it is also the top drama series on streaming services. There is so much more of the story to be told, and so much of a need for a series that… Read more »
REALLY!!°
I mean they have renewed Camilla’s, Kim’s and Kevin’s contracts for 3 more years so just make three more seasons and inform everyone right away that season 20 is it. And maybe do 16-episode seasons instead just so Ellen can get some rest.
You know what they say “it’s a beautiful day to save lives ” and I truly believe that Gray anatomy has done just that. The show has made such a big impact on people’s lives it truly is motivational and inspiering. I really hope that the show goes on for many more seasons it would be sad to see such a good thing that has impacted so many peoples lives in such a positive way come to an end. The series has given me inspiration and motivation to further my career in the medical industry I’m more involved in the… Read more »
To be honest i think it will be canceled only because the views are getting so low probably due to the fact of writing off so many of our favorite characters ,and since there bringing a lot of people back this season. love greys tho
I LOVE greys anatomy. I’ve watched the whole thing through more than twice. The last couple of seasons have gone downhill but still a fun escape. This season, I can barely bring myself to watch. It’s painful. I know they need to stay current and I appreciate their attention to social issues, but we are living through a pandemic, social unrest and political tensions. I don’t want to watch it every week in my limited downtime. Go gracefully greys and I will rewatch old episodes frequently.
Yes I agree changed the channel for the first time !
Season 17 MUST be it. Even producers are prepared for it, so just end the show, and cash in on reruns on TV and VODs.
this show truly needs too go
Great show, should renew for 18th season.
This is the year I have finally quit the show. It used to be a fun, edgy show. Not as good as the E.R. of the 90’s, but fun. In the last few seasons it’s been preachy and striving to be not entertaining, but schooling viewers in “proper” social attitudes. No longer a guilty pleasure, and light years away from fun.
Really stepped in the ditch with the whole covid story, no one wants to see that.
Season 17 is just a shadow of the greatness of seasons 1 thru 9. This is the end of the series, they pay Ellen 20 million dollars and put her on screen for 2 minutes. Shallow and featuring the least liked characters. Must have turned over all the writers.
im sorry but this show needs to go just boring and same thing every ep
haha no, I’M sorry, but please explain? same thing every episode? i’ve been a huge fan since 2012 (Season 8) and i’ve never seen anyone of the characters with covid
You probably fell asleep during those seasons, because adding covid to the script adds nothing new. It’s just a different kind of illness with same old plots and storylines.
I’m sorry you feel it’s. The same thing every episode but I feel it’s more than that there is a caption of real life struggle with light at the end of a dark tunnel added with a twist. Every episode I have noticed is something that someone is struggling with somewhere and with covid-19 or what ever else if it was a multiple episode topic it was aspects of it from different view points not just preaching one view point. And allowed for people to choose how they want to look at sitchuation without judgement.
