Guy Fieri has finished Guy’s Big Project, and the series has created not just one but two new series as a result! The Grill Dads and Eat, Sleep, BBQ have both premiered this weekend.
Food Network revealed more about the new food show in a press release. Check that out below.
“After six weeks of working with the most promising prospects on Guy’s Big Project, Guy Fieri’s search for Food Network’s next big culinary-travel series concluded with an unexpected twist, when two food-road shows were selected to become new primetime series. The surprising reveal that two series were greenlit for Food Network took place following last night’s finale with sneak peek airings of both new series including The Grill Dads with duo Mark Anderson and Ryan Fey, and Eat, Sleep, BBQ with Rashad Jones.
“I didn’t know what was going to happen when we started this wild-ride of a journey and I am so thrilled at how it all turned out,” said Guy Fieri. “I wanted to give someone the same opportunity that I had been given, and I couldn’t be more excited for Mark, Ryan and Rashad to realize their dreams of having a series on Food Network.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Mark, Ryan and Rashad into the Food Network family. Throughout the journey on Guy’s Big Project, Mark’s and Ryan’s energetic personalities and ability to convey their excitement for grilling on camera made them stand out, while Rashad’s relatability, passion and first-hand knowledge about BBQ made him shine,” said Courtney White, Senior Vice President Programming, Scripps Networks Interactive.
Beginning on Friday, December 15th at 9:30pm ET/PT, The Grill Dads are hitting the road on the ultimate dad food adventure, eating their way through some of the best food in America. As lifelong friends, Mark Anderson and Ryan Fey share a love for two things – being dads and grilling. Now, this duo is discovering dishes that are outrageous, over the top, and full of flavor throughout the season. They are tasting it all, from meals that kids would go crazy for, to unexpected twists on classics, and to global cuisine stateside.
As a self-proclaimed BBQ nerd, Rashad Jones lives, breathes, eats all things BBQ, and on Saturday, December 16th at 9pm ET/PT, he is embarking on the road trip of his dreams to meet the people who share his passion. As a BBQ chef and restaurant owner, he is on a search to uncover the best BBQ in the country from the traditional to the new and innovative on Eat, Sleep, BBQ. Each of the episodes celebrate the full sensory BBQ experience from the smell of wood burning and meat smoking, to the sight of a piled high plate full of pulled pork, to the feeling of sauce dripping down your hands from slow cooked baby back ribs, to that first mouthwatering taste of the first bite of brisket. This show will have you craving seconds!”

So….I watched Eat, Sleep BBQ. I have to turn the volume off when the host starts rapping. He raps in the opening part of the show and then every time they finish a restaurant he raps. It makes it hard to watch because it fits into the typical stereotype of a black man is only good if he’s rapping. I appreciate the different restaurants because I like to travel and eat at different places. If they take out the rapping and just let him host without the shucking and jiving, he would actually be a good host.
I hope you bring The Grill Dads back, they were a hoot!
Totally agree!
I really hope you bring the grill dad’s back. I love them and I fought for them during Guy fieri’s big project
It’s better than some of the crap on tv. I find these shows funnier and more appealing than prime time shows.
