TV show description:
Based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, the Instinct TV show is a crime thriller from creator Michael Rauch. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is enjoying a peaceful interlude as a university professor and author, when his old life beckons for him to return.
Reinhart is teaching psychopathic behavior when NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) seeks his help in catching a serial killer. It seems the murderer is using the professor’s first book as his training manual.
Although Dylan has grown accustomed to his student’s enthusiasm and adoration, Detective Needham isn’t one to take “No,” for an answer. He agrees to leave his comfortable retirement behind, in order to work this compelling case.
Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), is every bit as bright as the professor and excels at getting the goods on anyone he targets. Meanwhile, Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal) is happy to see her sharpest detective accept help on any case. Lizzie has refused to partner with anyone, since a tragedy occurred, a year ago.
Although working the case gives Dylan a new sense of purpose and vitality, his husband, Andy (Ings), worries his spouse has forsaken their agreement to permanently leave his past in the past. While things are bumpy between Dylan and Lizzie at the outset, they soon learn that together, they make one heck of a team.
Series Finale:
Episode #24 — Grey Matter
A gruesome discovery in a city pond leads Dylan and Lizzie to investigate a young man’s murder, while Andy rescues one of Dylan’s students from a legal bind.
First aired: August 25, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Instinct TV series? Should this CBS TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Really liked this show. Renew! Great cast and interesting storyline.
I did. What did you do with it ? I loved this well cast, well acted program Alan Cummins is great I am 68 and really loved it
Best new show in years. Great cast. Well acted, great story lines. Alan Cummins at his best. I hope someone picks it up
Renew Instinct. It’s very good.
It should have been renewed! I love the show, its different and it has a little of everything for everyone to enjoy! Why do the shows that nobody likes, get to stay and the good ones are sent packing?
I loved the premise of the show and looked forward to its 3rd season. I am crushed that it will not return. Alan cummings is a very versatile actor and the rest of the cast and story lines are excellent.
Seriously disliked it. Weak writing. Cummings cannot carry a show
Loved instinct , I want it to come back!
Why is it that when a really good show comes out they decide to cancel it instead of letting all of the viewers that like shows that make you think, to get hooked on it first and then they replace it with reality TV that takes no imagination to create and only serves to give people with no redeeming qualities the spotlight. Disgusting.
This show should have been renewed. A refreshing but thought provoking series.Unlike the (un)reality shows proliferating the airwaves now !!
This show should have been renewed. It was fun, light hearted and made you think. I do think the actors did a great job and grew into their roles. Too bad the networks want reality shows and the more award shows than actual entertainment.
Great show. Really good characters, and so believable
Loved the show.
With, all the things going on the the United States and and the world, we don’t need Reality TV. If you needed to axe something start there and put Instinct back on.
Every time a show is super well written and fresh and intelligent I prepare for cancellation. I wonder if it needed some three stooges humor to survive? Well I’m sure before I die of old age one more good show will turn up. Then I can ask God Why? Ciao’for now …
I agree with Dave. I enjoyed Alan Cummings since he played on the Good Wife. Lizzie was a breath of fresh air. It just seemed that they relied on stringing us along from one week to the next. It would have been better to start and solve on one or 2 episodes. So sorry to see it go.
