The Jane the Virgin TV show is back on The CW on yet another new night, but we don’t have to spend the fifth season wondering if it is cancelled or renewed for season six. The CW previously announced that this was the series’ final installment. We’re still tracking the ratings though, because it gives us a good benchmark for analyzing the Nielsen ratings performance for other CW TV shows, so stay tuned.
A CW comedy-drama Jane the Virgin stars Gina Rodriguez, Andrea Navedo, Yael Grobglas, Ivonne Coll, Jaime Camil, Brett Dier, and Justin Baldoni. Although saving herself for marriage, Jane (Rodriguez) was accidentally impregnated via artificial insemination, had the baby, and went on to become a published author. The fifth and final season kicks off in the wake of two big cliffhangers: the mystery of who JR shot; and how Jane saw her late husband, Michael (Dier), standing in Rafael’s (Baldoni) apartment.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
8/1 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

For comparisons: The fourth season of Jane the Virgin averaged a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 631,000 total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Is the Jane the Virgin TV series ending at the right time? If it were your call, would Jane the Virgin be cancelled or renewed for season six on The CW?
I am so sad to see this series end. I am a grandma who sits and watches this series with my daughters and granddaughters. It truly has broke our hearts that we won’t be able to sit and enjoy a good wholesome family show together. Please consider bringing back this truly wonderful series ♡ Sincerely, Lehnerz Family ~ Power, MT 59468
I think they should make a season 6 and so on I want to know more about the show and not have it end like that on season 5 please make another season.
I would love to see a season 6 and so fourth

Please bring it back it can’t end like that of season 5 with them getting married..it needs to keep going show how there life works after marriage and if matao gets better and what kinda person he grows to be ..
We need a Season 6! We need closure!
Season 5 ending SUCKS!!! Its a fantastic show that has EVERYTHING a viewer can ask for!!! You can’t leave everyone hanging like that!!!! It should have included how she marketed her book right up until their wedding!!! Their wedding is what I was waiting to see!!!! SHOW THEIR WEDDING!!!!
Please do not leave us all hanging. We have to know who J.R shot. We have to know Jane’s reaction to seeing Michael.
You’re referring to the end of season four. Season five has been airing on The CW.
I loved this show before, but in season 5 that the whole thing with Micheal coming back played out very bizarre, and I don’t understand why everyone lacked so much empathy about it. Raf (and nobody else really) had much compassion about how difficult that would be. They all rejected Micheal so easily. Poor Micheal, he went through hell that there wasn’t even a lawsuit. Why is Jane so apologetic in this season? She is doing her best, but constantly has to apologize for everything. Like when Raf “forbids” her to make a doctors appointment for Matteo, and she did… Read more »
I love the show and i would really want to see another season and i hope the executives and the main producers make it happen this show is my top favorite and it has some reality to it
The ratings dont lie, this show died with Michael. The real one, not that insulting version of him that you brought up this season in order to get the viewers back.
Nice job people,
I used to love this show, but the last two seasons have been terrible boring and the characters annoying. Im sorry but now im just glad this is going to be over and the spin off denied. It should have ended after season 3, at least it would have died with some dignity
These las two seasons have been terribly boring, i used to love this show, now im just glad is going to be over and the spin off denied.
Sorry but now is like any other telenovela, too predictable
