La Brea wraps its first season tomorrow night, and the creator of the sci-fi drama series is already looking ahead to season two and teasing what happens next. NBC renewed the drama earlier this month.
Starring Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chiké Okonkwo, Karina Logue, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie, and Chloe De Los Santos, the La Brea series follows what happens after a huge sinkhole opens in Los Angeles. Several people fall in and end up in 10,000 BC. With families separated, one man tries to find a way to bring his wife, son, and everyone else home.
The show’s creator, David Appelbaum, teased the following about La Brea season two and the season finale, per Deadline:
“Without actually giving away what happens, this is a story about a family trying to reconnect—emotionally and physically. They’re on that path in the finale but it won’t be easy. They’re going to be separated in new and interesting ways. We’re going to be putting characters in different worlds moving into Season 2. There are going to be a lot of unexpected surprises that will happen at the end of the finale that is going to put our characters in a lot of different places. But also, we’re going to retain a lot of what we saw in Season 1. There are still going to be characters in the clearing trying to figure out how to survive down [there]. But one of the goals of the show for future seasons is to expand what the show can be.”
La Brea airs its season finale on NBC tomorrow night. The network hasn’t indicated when the second season will launch.
What do you think? Are you a fan of La Brea? Do you plan to watch season two on NBC?
Love the séries. So glad there’ll be another season.
I haven’t enjoyed a series this much in a very long time. It grabbed me from the first episode and I look forward to it every week. I am so happy they renewed it and I hope we don’t have to wait too long for season 2.
Glad to hear NBC is renewing LaBrea. Was definitely disappointed Manifest was not renewed and we will now have to watch it on Netflix. I hope they will see this show through completely. If this show gets canceled before it is completely over I will never watch another series on NBC.
Same here
I give LaBrea 5 out of 5 stars
How on earth does this sort of garbage get renewed? Seriously, even discounting the demographic that think desperate housewives of anywhere who probably also find this rubbish enthralling (look it up?)…..one must think whoever funds this garbage is being bribed or blackmailed. There is no logical reason for how this lost/the plane program and various other mystery alien abuction falling in a cave etc stories gets past quality control. Its just another sad embarrassment for the USA, first you had Donald, then Sleepy Joe, now this trash gets renewed. Leaders of the world, in trash tv maybe yes.
Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean you have to disparage it that way. I am 61, and I find it one of the most intriguing shows in a long time.
And well made and with a great cast, too.
Like this show. Very interesting premise. Can’t wait for season 2!
I love La Brea! It’s a fun show. But how does Gavin have brown eyes while Isaiah has blue?
Yes, I love the show, it is very different from all the other shows on TV. It keeps your attention and always guessing. Love the show!
Can’t wait for season two. I like the premise and the cast is great. Hope NBC will give it the proper time to really tell the story this time.
I like this show, looking forward to season 2
Should have renewed earlier can’t wait for second season
YES. Renew this show as it is a great mystery. Look forward to it every week. Thank you to the writers, actors/actresses, crew, producers etc.
I watched the first couple episodes of La Brea, but I stopped recording them and deleted the first two episodes. The acting is terrible, and none of the characters are memorable. It would have been better if they had all fallen to their deaths and be done with it. Crazy, stupid concept to begin with. Not worth the watch.
It’s like… a car wreck. It’s not appealing but you watch it anyway. Concept was interesting but it’s devolved into love triangles, reworked LOST plots, and a lack of actual ‘science fiction.’ None of the characters are appealing, as they’re stereotypes/written poorly/soap opera plots. If it disappeared from the network, I’d just shrug my shoulders. Darn shame NBC can’t hold onto good scifi like DEBRIS and/or MANIFEST but give us this, um, pablum.
I lost interest about episode 6. Just a Lost reboot with more layers being added without anything ever being answered. Don’t care a bit about any of the characters.
Lost and Manifest, meet La Brea, a program so similar to yours it’s like having deja vu all over again.
I love this show. Can’t wait for Season 2 to start. This is now i can officially say is my favorite Tuesday night show. Hope it doesn’t take to long for Season 2 to start. Keep up the great work guys.
