What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Last Kingdom stars Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thure Lindhardt, Millie Brady, Alexandre Willaume, Julia Bache-Wiig, Joseph Millson, and Peter McDonald. An adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s novel series, The Saxon Stories, the historical drama follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Dreymon), the son of a 9th Century Saxon nobleman. After killing his father, Danish invaders kidnap the boy and he is raised by their warlord, Ragnar. Years later, when Ragnar is killed, Uhtred vows to avenge him, even as he returns to Bebbanburg to claim his birthright.

Telly’s Take
Unless Netflix decides to release streaming “ratings” it is always difficult to gauge the success of streaming TV shows, like The Last Kingdom. So, let’s look at what we do know. Netflix became a co-producer after the first season ran on BBC Two in UK and BBC America in the US. And in the US, the second season will have its first run on Netflix, leaving BBC America out of the picture. They must have some faith in the project. Provided the show continues to do well in both the UK and in the international markets that get the series via Netflix, I suspect The Last Kingdom will be renewed for season three. 9/26/17 update: Though a season three renewal hasn’t been announced, there have been reports of season three casting and filming.

I had NO idea this show was going to be so good. Seriously blew my mind. I to am hoping for more seasons. I have NOTHING bad to say about it other than im pissed we didn’t get to see Erik get his love, i thought that was such a dope twist in the story. infinite thumbs up by me.
This is an amazing show. The characters, the settings and the story line are all so compelling and exceptionally well done. I couldn’t stop watching and am truly hoping that it will be renewed for at least one, if not more seasons.
Love love love this show I hope not only season 3 but even more seasons. Just as good as game of thrones. With 10 being highest ranking id give it even more than a 10. I just finished season 2 and am addicted. Please bring this show back for another season.Although I wish Erik had not been killed off, broke my heart.

Please give us more seasons of The Last Kingdom, and many more episodes. Season 2 was just too short. This was the best series I’be seen in a long time, and I watch a LOT of TV.

I hope The Last Kingdom is renewed for a 3rd season WITH MORE EPISODES!!! Season 2 felt too short with only 8 episodes. The writing and character development is wonderful, and I love the kindness, intelligence and ethics displayed by Uhtred and his supporters! MORE PLEASE!
