Last Man Standing is getting ready for a big moment, and one of the members of the cast is talking all about it. Amanda Fuller is not only starring on the (now) season eight finale, but she is directing the episode. This is her first time doing so.
Amanda Fuller revealed that ‘the baby is coming’ during the episode. The season has worked up to that moment. However, the episode was not meant to be the season finale. FOX shutdown production on the series the day before the cast was set to film the actual season finale.
Fuller said the following about the shutdown of Last Man Standing by FOX to TV Line:
“No… That last tape night, I don’t think any of us thought it would be our last. There was no talk of that. It wasn’t until Friday, after rehearsing [Episode 22] for a few days, that we were all like, “Um, how are we going to do this?” And that was only three days after our last tape night, so that’s how quickly [things changed]. We made the decision to not do it in front of a live audience on Friday, but it wasn’t until Sunday night that we actually shut down, the night before we were supposed to shoot it. So it all happened really fast. My dressing room is still intact. None of us, as far as I know, were able to go back and empty out our dressing rooms. Fox was like, “Don’t come back on the lot,” and that was it.”
It is not known if the series will be able to film its true season finale at a later date. Last Man Standing has yet to be renewed for a ninth season.

have been watching Tim Allen forever. have seen every episode of Home Improvement and Last Man Standing. I really am a devoted fan always will be.
This is my Fav sit-com & one if the best shows on TV. Sorry they didn’t complete the season, but health & safety come first.
Hopefully they can do the Season Finale followed by Season opener for the fall.

This is definately one of the best sitcoms on the air. Considering what this show has gone thru (network, cast, and day switch), it’s amazing that it does so well. It’s my understanding that only the season’s finale is in jeopardy not the show itself. This show is such a “breath of fresh air” and it would be a shame if Fox doesn’t renew it for another season.
I love this show and I’m a little sad they weren’t able to do the season finale. But can be ok with it as long as there’s a season 9&10.
I really enjoyed this show and it’s characters. It was the biggest part of my Friday night line up when it viewed on ABC. I kept forgetting to watch the show once it moved to Fox on Thursday nights. I spent most of the time watching season 8 on demand. I’m saddened that it’s being canceled. I do think that politics played a part of it being cancelled from ABC. Especially when this year Friday nights were filled with half an hour comedies on Abc. Sorry to see you go. Wishing all the characters the best in their acting futures.

It’s not being cancelled. They had to stop production because of the coronavirus outbreak. The show technically hasn’t been renewed or cancelled yet. The show isn’t in any danger and will more than likely be back for a Season 9.
Please don’t end the show, Last Man Standing, it’s by far the BEST sitcom show on television. Tim Allen, Nancy Travis and the rest of the cast are hilarious. KEEP the show going!!!

Terrific TV show. Funny, entertaining and clean. To bad Corporate America does not support any of those characteristics in a TV show. This is NOT reality TV, just good TV.
