Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

Amazing that there cancelling the show, I thought it was a really good show always watched it. Hope they move to another network, ABC’s lost, which is fine with me since they screwed up on other shows as well. I mainly like to watch comedies, this was the only show I watched Friday night. So I’ll be watching even less of ABC shows, I bet they’ll end up in last place at this rate.
LAST MAN STANDING… love love love this show! I just wish ABC WOULD have and ending … maybe (10 episodes) especially after 6 Seasons of LMS… LOYAL FANS WOULD LOVE AN ENDING. I missed Season 6. What a sad day when the networks cave in to liberals. This show is a reflection of everything my family believes in and I applaud Tim Allen for sharing his views with us. And yet a show like the view is allowed to bash our president. And never mind all the late night hosts who do the same. Hopefully this show will get picked up by a cable network so my family can continue to watch for many years to come.
MY WIFE AND I WEEKLY ENJOY LAST MAN STANDING!!! We get tired of all of the commercials with many TV programs so we TAPE them then watch perhaps this is y ratings r down a bit cause more of us Old fogies R watching our programs via DVR!! We’re still there watching a great show that has CHARACTER and STRENGTH!! Last Man Standing is our favorite! Appreciate that I can count on the comedy with a moral message. No trash in this series. Please renew this series.
I love this show!! If they have to cancel it, at least let them have a few more episodes to conclude the storyline. It’s so annoying when networks do this. I really hope they don’t replace it with a pathetic reality show or another cop show. Time to move past those.
I love Last Man Standing. Bring it back. Once upon a time ABC was a really good network. Been questioning their choices for TV viewing for years now. I am so disappointed in this decision.

Really highly disappointed to hear that our favorite (and only ABC show worth watching) has been cancelled. I imagine that the conservative stance and values within this great show was too much for ABC to handle. I do hope that the network rethinks this decision. The ratings may have been down a little bit, but check out the ratings on other broadcast network shows that are stuck in a Friday night time slot, and Last Man Standing has done VERY well comparatively. Love getting to watch a show that had the same beliefs we have! Sadly ABC will be losing another viewer as they cancel Last Man Standing! There just isn’t any good TV to watch that has good values and believes in our country and our constitution. Only choices are liberal nonsense… sick!
HUGE fan of Last Man Standing and really sorry it’s been cancelled. When there is so little truly funny shows on TV why would they cancel this gem?

I looked forward to Friday night. We love this show. Seems like all the good shows get cancelled and they leave the garbage on. I Hope another network picks this show up.
