Why did ABC cancel Last Man Standing? Recently, star Tim Allen discussed the cancelled TV show, Deadline reports.
Despite good ratings and a successful syndication deal, ABC cancelled Last Man Standing last May after six seasons. The comedy centered on Mike Baxter (Allen), a marketing director for the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores who lives with his wife and three daughters. The cast also includes Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Hector Elizondo, Flynn Morrison, Jordan Masterson, and Jonathan Adams.
On Norm MacDonald’s podcast, Allen revealed he has no idea why ABC ended Last Man Standing and the whole situation “was handled very badly.” The comedian also suggested his political leanings possibly led to the show’s cancellation, saying “There’s nothing more dangerous right now than a likable conservative.”
Though, earlier ABC Network boss Channing Dungey made it clear that Allen’s politics had “absolutely nothing to do with” the end of Last Man Standing.
What do you think? Did you watch Last Man Standing? Would you have watch another season?
I don’t care what Mr. Dungey said, I believe he’s a liar! I believe that Tim Allen’s politics and the conservative nature of the show had everything to do with the cancellation of the show.
I loved that show! Would much rather watch that then “Off the Boat”, which I don’t feel is funny at all. I watch all the reruns of Tim Allen ‘s show “Last Man Standing” when ever it’s on. I’ll watch 3 or 4 episodes at a time. That show was funny, better than the other crap that’s on T.V. these days. At least you can relate to the issues the family was dealing with day to day. Everytime something good is on it’s cancelled, but crap like Kardashians, or “How To Get Away With Murder”, or any show that has… Read more »
If you know ABC then it’s no surprise that they canned this fabulous show. The only problem I ever had with watching LMS was that I had to turn to ABC to watch it. Will absolutely continue to watch reruns on CMT, and hope to see it picked up for new shows anywhere.
Despicable ABC, which is par for ABC!
We loved this show! We’re watching reruns every night. I don’t understand why they cancelled such a great show.
Good luck even finding reruns. ABC wont be happy until we all think the same
They play reruns everyday Of course on other channels, but they still play them.
Yes I would continue watching. Love the whole group!
Have you seen the shows that were NOT cancelled? Good lord, last man standing has them beat by a mile.
That show was one of the funnest shows on TV-the writing was great
There is something more to this then we know
You just dont cancel a high rated show on your network that brings in good ad money
please bring this show back love it so funny, most tv sucks right know and you they cancelled because of politics you stink ABC for cx someone please bring it back love Tim Allen and all the cast
Of COURSE ABC cancelled the show because of its political msg. The entertainment industry couldn’t POSSIBLY have a successful show like Last Man Standing continue in today’s day and age. How pathetic that ABC won’t admit this was about politics. Weak and spineless executives trying to hide in the shadows when it’s obvious the decision was politically motivated. Especially sad considering liberal and conservative leaning characters agreed to disagree on the show which is a great example of how people in real life can get along even though they disagree.
AWESOME SHOW WATCH AS AFAMILY SOME ONE OUT THERE RENEW FOR SEASON 7 PLEASE !!
I can’t believe the idiots that let a show this good go away! If it actually was for political reasons it just goes to show how stupid they are .
Very good show. Something for everyone. Conservative dad and liberal next gen kids. Funny, original comedy.. Should not have been cancelled.
This was one of the funniest shows on TV today I watch all the reruns they had to be stupid to cancel it
This was one of our favorite shows. We are shocked that it was cancelled. Shame on you ABC for cancelling a clean, quality show with great comedy and family values!
This is one of my favorite shows! My husband and I are both terribly disappointed that ABC cancelled it. We would absolutely watched several more seasons.
