A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Absolutely fell deep into this show. Entranced by the theme! Lucifer plays his part very well. It’s a definite keeper. Thumbs up! Let’s give it a few more seasons!
My Husband and I love this show it is so well written and it has a grt sense of humor we need more shows like this
Me and my family love the show. We wait a whole week for Monday to come to watch it. It would be a horrible idea to take it off air.
Please keep it going. I would of never thought that I would watch something like this. I never realized who Lucifer was as Judaism does not talk about the devil like the others . The cast is fabulous. Please please you make it so funny that maybe these people will not be with so much hate towards other faiths if they weren’t so full of this fear
This show is fabulous! The writing is clever and engaging. The little innuendos throughout, the song choices (i.e. “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”), etc. keep you entertained and looking forward to the next week’s episode. I often watch it again on FoxNow to pick up the little “one-liners” I missed from the first watching. Please renew for another season!!
I did not like the sho at first until I watch it. I learnt a lot watching the program. I learned about who Gadreel was as a angel. I looked it up in the bible. Which was true.
Please do not cancel Lucifer. I love the quirkiness of the lead actor.
The show needs to be reconfigured to save it. The Devil needs to be immortal again; maybe make Maze mortal instead and when she gets shot in the 1st episode your have a ‘To be Continued’ scenario to have folks watch ep#2. He also needs a male buddy to play off of cuz the pseudo romance with the female cop ain’t working. And if nothing else, give the Devil a cell phone. It’s the 21st century, for Christ’s sake. [Pun intended.]
Keep Lucifer! Love the series.
Keep Lucifer on. It is a refreshing change from the formulaic pablum the networks want to feed us.
Best show in a long time, love it!!!
KEEP Lucifer on the air for many seasons to come. All of the shows that have come from FOX’s Network this is really by far different from any other show out there. Major networks all compete with each other for the best shows, ideas, story’s and ratings. Biggest thing of all has to be an idea which no other network has ever shown. There has been different styles of the same type of family shows and animated types, but this is new fresh mind blowing. Huge fan of the show tune in every Monday night for the story, drama and… Read more »
Keep Lucifer on, one of the best series yet next to the Walking Dead ! Had enough of police shows and reality shows
KEEP Lucifer ON _The season should go on for at least 8 season – If the story lines are good. I always Knew the Devil had to be British LOL.
What a great show for Fox, should be on ABC, as it is their quality.joe
