Is Lucifer in danger of another cancellation? Recently, executive producer Ildy Modrovich discussed the decision to end the Netflix TV show after five seasons, reports The Wrap.
The drama series, which was picked up by Netflix after being cancelled by FOX, stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, who leaves Hell for Los Angeles. The cast also includes German, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, Scarlett Estevez, Inbar Lavi, Vinessa Vidotto and Graham McTavish.
On Twitter, Modrovich told fans they don’t need to campaign for another season of Lucifer. In her statement, the showrunner revealed Netflix put a lot of consideration into their decision:
Many are wondering if they should fight for more?? And while we feel just as sad as many of you do that this marvelous ride is coming to an end, a fight won’t change things right now. But we spoke to our partners at Netflix and WarnerBros [sic], and you should all know TREMENDOUS care and consideration was put into making this decision.
In fact, the whole reason they decided to announce that it was our fifth and final season simultaneously is because they know how devoted and passionate our fans (and we!) are and wanted to give y’all (and us!) as much time as they could to accept and process the news. And for that we’re incredibly grateful.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Lucifer? How do you want the series to end?
I don’t want it to end. I love Lucifer. I’m extremely happy to get another season, but I will be so incredibly sad to see it end.
Please bring Lucifer back for a 5th season! We still need some type of closure. This ending is too tragic …
Wow! I was going to subscribe to Netflix because of Lucifer, but now I don’t think so since they are canceling the show.
I’m happy with at end at 5 seasons, as long as Lucifer and Chloe FINALLY get together!!!!! But I’d be happy with S6 too. As long as S5 is the best of all seasons, I’m good with that. It’s been a helluva fun ride.
No. I don’t want it to end. But I’d prefer an amazing season 5 and that’s it to hanging on and on and on. Go out with the writing, cast, etc, all on the top of their game.
“Lucifer” has been a great study in human psychology and this makes it much more valuable than just another crime solving series. And as human psychology can be studied endlessly, so can it inspire almost endless artistic expression thus there definitely will be enough material to continue with this elaborate and exciting series. Of course it should continue further, not just end with season 5!
Love Lucifer,,we can have many more seasons of this gr8 show!! Ppl need and want more, Lucifer!
I would rather the show be wrapped up properly, than watch it lose its magic, like so many other series have done.
Fantastic show. Great actors, excellent story line. I never missed an episode Keep it on the air.
Yes i/ we love Lucifer TV show Hell yes we want MORE!!!
You cant and the way you did because there is way more stuff that can happen and also you ended season 1,2, and season 3 and season 4 was the greatest witch is why you shouldn’t end it. Also you can put a better ending SEASON 5 HAS TO BE THE BEST ENDING NOT SEASON 4.
Can’t complain. They will give us two more seasons than we would have otherwise. The seasons are short but highly focused and that’s what’s important. Best part is they can write the final season knowing it will be the last. That’s means no loose ends or cliffhangers. We are getting closure. I’m ok with this.
We’ve been through the whole gamut of Lucifer, his bro, his mum, Adam and Eve etc etc, I have fully enjoyed every season and episode they threw at us, especially this last season, seemed it was gearing back up again… but then, if you are going to close it off forever, you could at least have had God sort stuff out in closing episodes!
I can understand it has to finish sometime but at least do a full 22 episodes for the 5th season! I joined Netflix for this
I love and appreciate there is going to be a season five I just don’t understand why the writers want to end it and only ten episodes at that! I really thought Netflix was going to be their new home for many seasons to come, like til seven or eight seasons. I’m so sad!!
