During its first season on CBS, the MacGyver TV show reboot didn’t exactly set new demo ratings records. However, it was among the Tiffany Network’s 10 most-watched programs, which was enough to score it a second season renewal. Does it have enough bubble gum and paper clips to go for a repeat? Will MacGyver be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.
A CBS action-adventure series, MacGyver stars Lucas Till, George Eads, Tristin Mays, Justin Hires, and Meredith Eaton. The reimagined drama centers on Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Till), a 20-something adventurer. Mac creates a secret organization within the US government. There, he uses his vast scientific knowledge and extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving to save the world.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/5 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of MacGyver on CBS averaged a rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of million (live + same day).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the MacGyver TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a third season CBS?
4/18/18 update: MacGyver has been renewed for a third season by CBS. Details here.
Please keep Magyver on!! I love the show. Don’t break the CBS Friday Night lineup. Macgyver, Hawaii 5-0 and Blue Bloods are must see TV 2018!!!

Please renewed many more seasons one of my favorite shows from 1980’s besides ncis shows.
This show is good and usually something a family can watch. Don’t like the Matty character, she’s nasty to her people. I’d hate having a boss that acts like that. Otherwise, the other characters are good together.
I loved this show, it has action, comedy and some romance. The characters had good chemistry and my family and I watch this every week. Please keep it going with a season 3.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MacGyver is coming back!!!!!!!!!! March 2
The CW channel for everyone when it start 20 decades ago with creepy shows now since Smallville was on the air and end been all are on these days tired of it. Macgver not made for that channel original was on abc back in 1980’s topics very good everyone even new one get ratings up please and Hawaii Five-0 too they are awesome shows to watch back to back.
Why would you cancel MacGyver when a lot of teens what this show????
I love MacGyver and want it renewed. I would prefer not having to wait weeks between new episodes, but the show itself is good enough to wait (even if its killing me). The show is good enough, in fact, that I purchased CBS All Access just so I could watch it. Bonus: I can also watch Bull, Hawaii 5-0, all the NCIS’s, and Scorpion but I wouldn’t have purchased it without MacGyver
Hey I’m back PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE keep MacGyver! I LA LA LA LA LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS SHOW!
This is the only good show on Friday nights. Why cancel a great show that teens love?
P.S. PLEASEEEEEEEEEE KEEP THIS SHOW!
I love all the action they way they have each others back please keep this show. I like the chemistry between the charictors.
We have been really enjoying the show…until last night. We love the cast and storylines, but last night’s episode was too dark. Having a sociopathic murderer take his son on a killing spree is not good entertainment. Prefer “one and done” episodes where they save someone and add humor in the mix. Will not watch again until this particular storyline concludes. Thanks
I think its a great show. Makes me reminiscent of the original. Keep it going RENEW!!!
