What’s This TV Show About?
A CBS political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of Madam Secretary averaged a 0.56 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.41 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 9% and 12%, respectively. Find out how Madam Secretary stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.

Use to like this show when it first started. Now it is so politically left it is like watching the other whiners on CNN
I’d be upset if they decided to cancel. I believe this is one show that is intelligent, fairly non violent, realistic, and shows more about how we wish our politicians might stand morally. I know that’s not realistic, but don’t take this away.
This is my favorite show!!! Wonderful cast, excellent writing, I love the dynamic of The Secretary’s family, and love watching Elizabeth as a leader. She is absolutely inspiring!!! Everything about the show is QUALITY. In the current landscape, we need programs like this, programs that encourage us to do better, not only in public service, but in our families and work. Love love love this show!!!!
I love this show! I love how it is an ethical one. I love the acting, the McCord family and the connection of her staff. I wish our countries politicians really worked like this. They get stuff done! I love that I can watch it with my family and not cringe. Please continue a family friendly show! Kudos!!
Dec. 23 show is nothing but propaganda. The kids taken at the border are taken from adults who are not their parents. They bring kids in to sell for really awful reasons. They could do a wonderful thing by telling the truth instead of a propaganda plot. Don`t take me word for it. Ask the Border Patrol.
Absolutely correct! Family member worked there as medical relief for the border patrol and really saw the truth. Children are better cared for there than most of our so called child care centers care for our own children.
This is my favorite show! The writing is current, pertinent and plausible! The acting is also terrific!
Please do not cancel, I have fallen in love with this show. I look forward to Sunday to see the next segment. Of all the shows on any of the channels this one is the best. The acting and story telling is the best. If the story line is Elizabeth McCord runs for the Office of President I still want to see the show continue. It will just give the writers more great material.

I absolutely love this show. It’s very well written. I would love to see it continued.
I hope they keep this show on, the only reason it might have low ratings is you put it on too late for people to stay up to watch. It is ok from 10:00 to 11:00, when football doesn’t interfere. However, you put 2 football games on Sunday and that delays all the programs. If you are going to do that (two football games in 1 day) then put Madame Secretary on at 8:00 or 9:00, it doesn’t have the violence that NCIS Los Angeles has. I used to watch NCIS Los Angeles, but have lost interest in it, would… Read more »
Hope that they Renew this interesting show. It has timely news themes, develops the characters, good writing & acting.
Yes it should be cancelled. This show has great acting but the writing has deteriorated into a Democratic Party talking point platform. It insults my intelligence.
