If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
I think the show has only got better as she became Madam President. I hated to see her press secretary have to resign. I wished they would keep the show going for a long time.
I totally agree the show kept getting better; please keep it going to show how a country can be run with morals.
I’m so disappointed the show is ending. I have watched every single episode and have enjoyed both the quality of the acting and writing. Sunday evening will never be the same.
It’s a terrific show! I’m very disappointed that it’s coming to an end.
I really like the show. Having it continue for another season jumping forward to the end of her first term, where she decides not to run for re-election but rather to finally return to civilian life with her husband and live a quiet life.
I’ve watched this superior show right from the start, trying to catch every single episode, but did I perchance miss any where she was out campaigning for the presidency? I only saw one, maybe two, on the subject and wonder if you skipped all that and went straight to her being Madame President. In any case, it’s a terrific show and I’m extremely sorry it’s ending soon. Tea Leoni is very very good, and she and the rest of the cast, including husband Tim Daly, have a really smart script to work with. I’ll bet they’ll miss it all too.… Read more »
I’d watch season 7, 8, 9, 10++ I like the way at the beginning of the current show it changes from Madam Secretary to Madam President. Too bad the producers or station don’t see it that way. A Madam President show would have been awesome.
I think a spin-off called Madam President
I would have watched a 7th season definitely! I do not think 10 episodes is enough time to tie up this show nicely and neatly! CBS is horrible…
This is an intelligent current affairs series reminiscent of The West Wing with less leftist thinking. I really wish it would continue for another season with Ms. McCord as President. It feels healing for our country at this juncture. I really enjoy this series.
I absolutely love the series Madam Secretary. I hope it will continue for more seasons
I love this show and I wish it wasn’t ending, Bess and Henry are great on the show and so are all the other characters. I would love to see a season 7 and I am sure many others also would.
I guess with all the women running for president the current administration is afraid of giving anyone ideas. After all studio executives are rich people too and birds of a feather and all…
This is a great show. It mimics real life politics but with a better out come. Interactions with characters draws you in. I would watch a 7th season.
Please please keep Madam Secretary in the air. This is sick an awesome shoe. The actors and actresses are fabulous. It would be absolutely AWESOME to change its name; whatever it takes. I would love to see season 7 and beyond.
I LOVE THIS SHOW – ALL THE ACTORS ARE GREAT TOGETHER – HOPING MADAM PRESIDENT WOULD TAKE OVER FOR SEASON 7 — PLEASE DO NOT STOP THIS SHOW DO WHATEVER NEEDS TO BE DONE BY CHANGING THE NAME OR WHATEVER.
