Although it has been one of ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series, you don’t have to wonder whether Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV show will be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season. ABC picked up season seven back in November of 2018 — about six months ahead of the season six premiere. Now we’re just left to wonder if that early renewal was also for a final season. To help us figure it out, we’re tracking the ratings for the sixth season, so stay tuned. *Status update below.
An ABC sci-fi action-adventure drama set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward. Last season, the team time-traveled to a dystopian future from which they had to save the world. In the sixth season, they have to come to terms with the fact that while tampering with the laws of time and space and time may have gotten the job done, it couldn’t save everyone they love.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
8/3 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Last year comparison: The fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD on ABC averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.074 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed past the seventh season on ABC?
*7/18/19 update: ABC has announced that season seven will be the end for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.
No comments since episode 4 . Tells you everything you need to know. Well not everything. Can you believe the drop in viewership from the first hour to the 2nd hour of the season finale? Next season will be a total debacle.
I’ve watched Agents of Shield right from the very first episode through the one aired on May 31st, 2019. I loved the show up until the middle of Season 4, but it’s gone downhill in both writing and presentation. In short, it’s the same old storyline rewritten ad nauseam and it just doesn’t work anymore. When Season 5 Finale came, the show should’ve ended there, but it was brought back with a few new twists. In all honesty, it’s now very boring and doesn’t work anymore. It was great in the beginning, but it’s seen its day. Please let it… Read more »
I love Agents of SHIELD so much! Great writing, great acting, great action, memorable characters and meaningful things happening to them. I’ve seen every episode and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them!
Sad to say the show hasn’t changed much. Why this show is still on tv is beyond me. I watched episode 4 of season 6 after leaving in season 3 and the show writing and acting is still as moronic as ever. Zeke character is crap actor crap character.
Thats hardly fair to say its crap after not watching it for 3 years! You don’t understand whats going on. If you did, you’d see that Zeke is a fun character, and what happened with him was funny because of what he did in season 5. You can’t just pick up a book in the middle of a series and read a chapter in the middle of that book and say the whole series is crap.
MAOS has reached the pinnacle of PC. Congrats
