NBC’s new Midnight, Texas TV show was originally supposed to premiere during the mid-season, but the Peacock Network decided to slate the ten-episode first season for summer. That’s typically not a good sign. Can the supernatural drama draw enough summertime viewers to score a second season, or will the series slip into obscurity? Will Midnight, Texas be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Based on the book series of the same name, from True Blood author Charlaine Harris, Midnight, Texas stars François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Jason Lewis, Peter Mensah, Sarah Ramos, and Yul Vázquez. The NBC TV series plays out in the remote Texas town of Midnight, where nothing is what it seems. There, only outsiders belong, while normality is just plain weird. It is the best haven for people who need to hide from the world at large. The townies come together to form a sort of chosen family. Together they fend off external pressures from nosy police officers, vicious biker gangs, and their own dark pasts.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Midnight, Texas TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on NBC?
2/14/18 update: NBC has renewed Midnight, Texas for a second season. Details here.
I love the show. It’s fun, different and relatively light weight. I hope they bring it back for a second season.
I’d very much like to see a season 2. It needs time to grow. Love it, great cast. I look forward to it every week!
Love the show, characters and plot would hate to see it cancelled after one season.
Midnight is outstanding
My wife and I both love it
I love fiji .
Keep the series going !
Been enjoying all the episodes so far. Would like a season two.
Really enjoying the show. So hope it is renewed for the fall season. Great characters!
Love it – I think they did a great job of representing the book – My fave character is Mr. Snuggles of course. Who would have thought that a thick redneck drawl would work so well 🙂
I like it. Hope it’s renewed!
Pretty good show. Would like to see another season. NBC renewed shows that rated worse and cancelled one that rated better.
Love the first episode. Can’t wait till the next one!
My husband and I enjoyed the first episode. Waiting for the second.
Watched Midnight, Texas premier with my daughter, had already checked out the many preview clips online since the show was first mentioned months ago. I can say this, just as the True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse series by the same Author; Midnight did not leave me disappointed! The show follows fairly close to the first book of the trilogy with minor deviations, mostly in part for creative licensing reasons, however with the pilot episode; I don’t see an issue at all! It has just the right amount of Spooky, What the Heck moments to keep viewers watching in anticipation of what will… Read more »
Pretty entertaining first episode. Will watch more.
Watched last night. Thought it had a good start. Looking forward to the next episode.
