NBC’s new Midnight, Texas TV show was originally supposed to premiere during the mid-season, but the Peacock Network decided to slate the ten-episode first season for summer. That’s typically not a good sign. Can the supernatural drama draw enough summertime viewers to score a second season, or will the series slip into obscurity? Will Midnight, Texas be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Based on the book series of the same name, from True Blood author Charlaine Harris, Midnight, Texas stars François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Jason Lewis, Peter Mensah, Sarah Ramos, and Yul Vázquez. The NBC TV series plays out in the remote Texas town of Midnight, where nothing is what it seems. There, only outsiders belong, while normality is just plain weird. It is the best haven for people who need to hide from the world at large. The townies come together to form a sort of chosen family. Together they fend off external pressures from nosy police officers, vicious biker gangs, and their own dark pasts.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Midnight, Texas TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on NBC?
2/14/18 update: NBC has renewed Midnight, Texas for a second season. Details here.
Unfortunately, I caught the show late. I’m a workaholic, so by the time I get to view new shows, they’ve been on for a couple of weeks already. When I stumbled upon this show, I was skeptic about it. Once, I started watching it, I became in intrigued and had to keep watching it. It has now became one of my most watched shows, and is on my watch list. Please return this program for a season 2; I really enjoyed and loved this show.
This is the ONLY genre show NBC has left. They BETTER renew it if they want any loyal, younger viewers. And with 13 episodes next season. If it’s going to be a summer show, then they should’ve cable standards for ratings.

Please renew Midnight, Texas for a second season. I loved the books and the characters are brought to life, much as in my imagination. The story line is imaginative and entertaining. We need more!
I’m really hoping for a S2. Absolutely loved the first one and got very invested in the characters. Please don’t drop this as has been done with so many others. And quit the obsession with Neilson ratings. Lots of us are outside both the USA and the age range they look at.
Please renew the show. It got better and better.
Renew it
