9-1-1, the new first responder procedural, has done well enough in the ratings to earn an early season two renewal from FOX. Now the network is introducing The Resident TV show. Is a medical procedural just what the doctor ordered? Will The Resident be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A drama, The Resident stars Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Moran Atias, Merrin Dungey, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Melina Kanakaredes, and Bruce Greenwood. The FOX TV series centers on Dr. Devon Pravesh (Dayal), a newly minted resident, as well as Senior Resident Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Czuchry), and their colleagues at the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. Although its motto is, “Committed to excellence,” the hospital is staffed with human beings, and humans are flawed. Now that Devon is on the other side of the institution’s velvet ropes, Conrad wants him to understand the reality of medicine and its delivery.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This show definitely should be renewed for another season. Love this show and the characters.
I can’t believe this has not been renewed yet!!. It’s real and gritty and the acting is way above par. The stories aren’t sugar coated and I look forward to this show every Monday. I will be heartbroken if The Resident isn’t renewed
It’s my favorite show on tv. The acting is so much better than 9-1-1! I’m shocked that 9-1-1 would be renewed over “The Resident”. Please, please keep it!
I absolutely love this show. Yes please renew The Resident. It is very entertaining and I look forward to seeing this show every week. My sister who does not really watch T.V. unless its sports watches this show every week

I am getting sick of the bad guys winning week after week. It is becoming hard to watch the two bad doctors get away with it all the time. I’m just about done.
I know!! The suspense there is killing me but just imagine how good it’s going to be when they FINALLY get caught up with!!! That or those episodes will be classic! =) I love the storylines and most of the cast. And it all seems believable. Not all wrapped up in less than a hour a week and definitely nothing like the TRASHY TGIT line-up! =/ Other than The Resident and the 3 Chicago spinoffs, Med, Fire and PD…I can’t think of any others worth renewing!!! Thanks for letting me vent! 😀
This is a great new show. I am so tired of the so called big 3 offerings. Please give The Resident a second season. The cast is terrific and they have great chemistry. Besides , Dr. Bell and Lane need to get what is coming to them.
