TV show description:
The people of Arcadia, Missouri are forever changed when a deceased loved one suddenly returns. An eight-year-old American boy wakes up alone in a rice paddy in a rural Chinese province with no idea of how he got there. Details start to emerge when the sweet and sensitive boy — who calls himself Jacob Langston (Landon Gimenez) — recalls that his hometown is Arcadia, and an Immigration agent/former cop, J. Martin Bellamy (Omar Epps), takes him there.
The home he claims as his own is occupied by an elderly couple, Henry (Kurtwood Smith) and Lucille Langston (Frances Fisher). They lost their son, Jacob, more than 30 years ago when he drowned. While they look different, young Jacob recognizes them as his parents. Those closest to the family try to unravel this impossible mystery — but this boy who claims to be the deceased Jacob knows secrets about his own death that no one else knows. Lucille is delighted to have her beloved boy back again while Henry can’t help thinking that it’s a cruel mistake.
Agent Bellamy joins forces with local doctor Maggie Langston (Devin Kelley) to figure out why the unexplainable is happening. She’s the daughter of the local Sheriff and the niece of the Langstons. Her mother, Barbara, died more than 30 years ago in the same accident that killed Jacob and discovers that the boy’s account of his death differs from what she was told by her father. Sheriff Fred Langston (Matt Craven) is an intense man with a pointed temper who adamantly does not want the incident of his wife’s death dug up and picked over.
Elaine Richards (Samaire Armstrong) is Maggie’s best friend. A single, attractive woman, Elaine is well put-together and good at her job as an assistant bank manager, but there is a fragility to her competent exterior. Being the financial and emotional support for her brother Ray has made it difficult for Elaine to live her own life.
The local minister is Tom Hale (Mark Hildreth), a town leader with a loyal flock. He has an empathetic soul that is irresistible to women. Married to Janine, he’s initially unwilling to believe in the miracle that is Jacob. But he was best buddies with the 8-year-old boy, 32 years ago, and he instantly recognizes his long-lost pal, making him question his beliefs.
Meanwhile, a mysterious and disheveled man named Caleb Richards (Sam Hazeldine) is on the path to Arcadia and ends up further complicating the town’s growing mystery.
Episode #21 — Loved in Return
The Langston household is vigilant and alert. Jenny and Jacob are upstairs watching cartoons; Jacob feels pain. Margaret comes out from hiding in a closet and sneaks into the room Rachael is in. She comes with a message from Preacher James to Rachael: “How would you like to be with Tom again?” Preacher James and his congregation lock Marty in a closet for betraying him. He is clearly not a friend of the preacher anymore. Joey and the True Living crew are venting about Preacher James when the preacher appears at Twain’s and confronts the group.
Back at the Langston home, Maggie tries to get into Rachael’s room and finds it locked. When she calls out to Rachael, there’s no answer. Fred breaks down the door and barges in with Maggie and Lucille, pulling Margaret away. Marty makes his escape from the closet and runs over to the Langston home. Taking Margaret out of the house, she reasons that she did it because of the pain the baby was inflicting on Jacob. As they make their way outside, Preacher James and the Returned appear. The Langstons leave Margaret outside and head back in the house.
Marty tries contacting Forrester, but she doesn’t answer – the government facility is cleared out. Fred calls the station and Joey picks up. He and his group have taken over the sheriff’s station, so no help is coming. Henry goes out to reason with Preacher James, but is unsuccessful. Henry informs Lucille the preacher says Rachael’s child is hurting Jacob; Lucille checks on him. Jacob admits the baby hurts him, but he doesn’t want to get Rachael in trouble.
Lucille wants to protect Jacob and Jenny, so it’s decided that she leave with the kids. As they walk through the crowd outside, the Returned attempt to grab the kids, but Margaret doesn’t allow them. She clearly regrets giving the preacher information. Henry and Fred gear up and load their guns. Marty and Maggie discuss the plan for when the Returned attack. Marty reveals his feelings for Maggie, and the two finally kiss. Their moment is broken, however, when a bottle flies through the window. The showdown is on.
The Returned descend on the house and Fred fires shots. Marty, Fred, and Henry are armed and ready for a fight, but as the people make their way into the house, the men are visibly outnumbered. Maggie tries to calm down a nervous Rachael when Returned men make their way in. Maggie tries to fend off the men with sharp scissors, but to no avail. When Fred hears Maggie screaming, he gets frantic, scrambling up the stairs and losing it. Maggie is subdued by the men and taken downstairs; she is fine. The Returned tie up Marty, Fred, Henry and Maggie; they are defeated.
Preacher James goes into Rachael’s room. He tells her that Tom is waiting for her to join him. Meanwhile, Margaret enters the house and orders the Returned to leave, then unties Marty, giving him a gun. He storms into Rachael’s room and reveals the preacher thinks her baby is evil. Preacher James admits his true agenda. He grabs scissors to harm Marty, who in turn shoots the preacher. Rachael continues giving birth. The next morning, Maggie hands Rachael her newborn baby. Downstairs, the Langstons gather around the TV, watching news of Returned reappearing all over the world.
One year later, Marty is the head of the National Bureau of the Returned. He visits Preacher James in jail. The preacher still believes the end times are near because of the baby. Marty tells him that it’s his last visit. Marty later joins the Langstons for dinner. Rachael sings her baby to sleep. She leaves her baby be, turning off the light. The baby is content, but all of a sudden, a swarm of cicadas fly into the window. (Courtesy ABC.)

What do you think? Do you like the Resurrection TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Just got on line to see when the series was set to return and found out to my dismay that it was canceled. Why they did this is a mystery to me. I haven’t read any comments from anyone who didn’t like the series. I am beyond being disappointed. I feel the powers that be at least owed the Resurrection fans some closure but I guess we have to sit back and take whatever is dished out. Boo to you!
I’m pissed that ABC canceled my favorite show ! It was so nice to see a awesome show instead of all those stupid reality shows ! Please Please bring it back !

I love the show keep the show on because I m tied of all the bood stuff

I loved the show, and was anxious to see what season 3 would bring – what was next and who the baby was or was going to be. was hoping to get some kind of explanation as to why the dead people came back to life…. very sad to hear it is cancelled. will season 1 and 2 be available on DVD?
Resurrection was one of the best shows to come on for quite some time now. I cannot believe you are canceling the show. We have 15 reality shows and have to endure endless seasons of who has talent and who doesn’t…but we can’t keep the good shows on more than 2 seasons. Please bring Resurrection back. We want more !!!
I have been impatiently waiting for the next season!!! I cant believe it’s canceled, you guys left so many people hanging, I hope you guys come up with new seasons PLEASE it was a great show!!!
I am very disappointed that they cancelled “resurrection” . I really liked it and I thought it had a good plot. They can bring back all these stupid reality shows and half of the people are perverts or worthless but they cancel something I liked watching. I was waiting for it to come back on and now it won`t. Soon people won`t even watch tv anymore. All these shows aren`t worth anything anymore. When you find one you like they take it off the air.
The writes left us hanging as to what happened to some of the characters that got killed or died, like Tom, what happened to Tom and how come he didn’t come back…….and was Barbara coming back or was she gone for good………there was no explanation as to why this happened to start out with…no closure…..Please bring the series back to all of it’s fans.
Has to come back, one of the best shows in a long time. If it has to end than bring it to a end.
They ABC staff didn’t care about us Resurrection fans time to search anew for those who seek afterlife and supernatural adventures. Check out the new LastLife web series for another twist on reincarnation and life after death. Here is a review on this series Do you believe in past lives? That’s the question at the heart of the new web series Last Life, written by Elesha Barnett. Sloan is a real HWIC (Head Witch In Charge, that is) on a mission. She will do anything to reunite with her soulmate Taylor, a soft spoken agoraphobic mourning the loss of her… Read more »
loved it, was pretty ****** !o f them to leave us hanging
Show got slow but really, how does it end? What was this about? You can’t cNcel without some closure.
BRING IT BACK FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
yes bring it back! when I saw the last episode aired I thought they were leaving it open to go either way unfortunately,
I felt the same way about the season/final episode. Definitely left me questioning if I would see it next year. 🙁
Maybe they’re incapable of writing an ending. See, all ya gotta do is put a period on The End.
Much hope in characters & plot; such misery of the ‘loose ends’ cancelled shows. Hate that its demise was too soon in coming.
What!! This was my favorite show!
