Even though, during the last couple of seasons, the Scorpion TV show has dropped off significantly in the ratings, CBS has opted not to cancel it. The fourth season — which kicks off with a musical episode — will provide this action drama with a decent sized syndication package. Could it spell the end? Will Scorpion cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Inspired by the life of a real computer expert, Scorpion stars Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, Eddie Kay Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Robert Patrick, Riley B. Smith, Andy Buckley, Jamie McShane, Joshua Leonard, Dan Dratch, and Scott Porter.
On the CBS series, Walter O’Brien (Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits are the country’s last line of defense against lurking high-tech threats. As Team Scorpion, these members of Homeland Security’s think tank solve the nation’s crises, even as they help one other on their quest to fit in. At the start of season four, they find themselves working with their nemesis, Mark Collins (Leonard), to prevent the extinction of the human race. Meanwhile, Walter and Paige (McPhee) feel awkward as they try to navigate their new relationship.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of Scorpion averaged a 1.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.23 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Scorpion TV series? Should CBS cancel or renew it for a fifth season?
*5/12/18 update: CBS has cancelled the Scorpion TV show so there won’t be a fifth season. Details here.
I want to see a 5th season but I want them to get rid of Florence. She does not belong on the team and I was disappointed and upset the way the season ended. I want to see Paige and Walter back together and who knows maybe get married.
Please do not cancel Scorpion! I record my favorite shows but may not get around to watching them on my DVR until 1-3 days. I love the connection and banter between all actors! Plus the ideas they come up with to “save the day”!
Please don’t cancel the show!!!
Don’t cancell, this couldn’t be the end, we need a fifth season!!
I love Scorpion, please do not cancel. You seem to forget about the older demographic. I am a 72 yr old female and watch so many tv shows but never included in ratings. I know I’m not the only older person that watches these shows. I watch a wide variety of shows, mostly CBS. Cancel some of the stupid shows.
I loved it until tonight’s season finale. Why do they always ruin a good show. Won’t watch it next season.
Please keep it alive. I don’t like dead scorpions!
I love Scorpion. The ratings may have dropped because CBS kept messing with the scheduling. I was very disappointed when they would schedule something else in its place without warning. The only part I got a little tired of was them dwelling on the baby issues.
I love Scorpion, the characters all together make a wonderful team & show! I need to see Happy have a baby & what will happen with everyone else!
I enjoy the show a lot. It’s entertaining even though the far-fetched adventures often leave me a little more than skeptical. I enjoy all the characters, but not how hot and cold they all blow emotionally. The finale tonight really bugged me. Hopefully they resolve that in season 5 without dragging out the changes. Paige and Walter need counseling.
I don’t think I’ve seen confirmation, but after all of tonight’s drama, I would be ASTOUNDED if there was no season 5!
very stupid splitting the team up if Scorpion doesnt get back together in first episode next year im done i was okay with the movie refrences and the humor but splitting them up will make the show horrible and ratings will be terrible
I look forward to watching scorpion every Monday. I didn’t like the ending this week. But that will bring the people back to find out where it goes from here. Keep it on.
Keep Scorpion
It shows the smarts of people and what can happen when ideas are brought together
It brings me & my daughter together every Monday night just so we can watch something together with out having to worry about language & other implied issues
CBS has cancelled to many Great shows in the past just to keep the “Stupid” reality shows that have nothing to do with reality.
Keep SCORPION – CBS
Do the right thing
It is a good series but it should be moved to an earlier time like 8 or 9 and keep it
Of those two, my vote would be for 9PM- The Big Bang Theory always starts its seasons on Mondays at 8. I also wonder if it would be outlandish to try a 7PM show.
