[SPOILER WARNING] The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Suits TV series showrunner Aaron Korsh about the season five finale. Because USA Network has already renewed the show, talk turned to the upcoming sixth season of Suits.
In the fifth season finale, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) cut a deal for that would see him sentenced to two years, in order to save Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Jessica (Gina Torres) from going to prison.
When asked if there was going to be a time jump, Korsh said although they talked about it, he decided since they were going through with the arrest storyline, they should see it through. The season six premiere will come back to the same night as the season five finale. Korsh says, “The entire episode as is currently contemplated takes place with Mike’s first night in prison and the first night back at the firm when they’ve come back and it’s empty.”
THR also asked if Wendell Pierce’s Robert Zane would be featured more in Suits‘ sixth season. Pierce plays Teddy on the CBS sitcom, The Odd Couple. Korsh said it is hard to plan for his character without knowing his availability ahead of time. If and when Pierce’s schedule opens up, Suits will find a way to work him into season six.
Korsh laid out the focus of the season six premiere, for THR. “What are they going to do based on this whole thing happening? Are they going to shatter, or are they going to come together and start fresh?”
Korsh says the sixth season will be about “moving forward.” It will look at how Mike deals with being in prison, and what his time there will do to his relationships, adding, “As for the other five, what happens when the two pillars of their existence — Mike and the firm — have been knocked out?”

The cursing on this season of suits is becoming annoying. Every sentence contains an expletive. Please clean it up, it’s not necessary.
Can you please tell me why you have to take the name of the Lord in vain so many times during a show?I really like this show but being a Christian everytime I hear that its like putting knife in my heart. If your a christian you cant understand this. You can get the point across without using those words.Couldnt you replace that word with another clean word?
I agree completely with Donna and am seriously considering not watching the show any longer!!! Is Aaron Korsh an athiest??
I can see why the series has been cancelled they took a wonderful show that I have watched from day 1 & made it dark violent & not enjoyable to watch. If its not broke don’t fix it way to go for killing a great show.
Please just ahead. Listening to arguing and have the firm depleted is no fun. This is the pits and I may not watch many more.
Just purchased Season 6 on Amazon in hopes a relationship beyond a professional one will expand between Harvey and Donna – not necessarily marriage, but a more meaningful connection. Sadly, I am having second thoughts since that does not seem to be in the story’s progression as I read some teasers from the cast – needless to say, I am disappointed. There is more chemistry between those two then any other relationships in the series. Moving on!
I absolutely LOVE this show! It is well written and has a group of excellent characters. I have watched every episode and hope to watch many more in the upcoming seasons.
I did not like the ending of Mike going to jail. Reason, every case solved by Mike will be overturned. The families / people he helped will now lose what was gained. His co-workers / friends are now viewed as liars and cheaters. I say let the next season open with him screaming himself awake of what will ALL happen if he doesn’t figure a way out of this situation soon. The writers can do it. I have figured out a way to do so. Therefore, I am sure the writers of this excellent show has the same thoughts in… Read more »
I didn’t like the way season 5 ended at all. If Mike had only had confidence in himself, he and the firm would have been OK, so disappointing. I have watched this show from day one and love it but wish the writers would have been more creative and taken a different path. PLEASE don’t have Mike in prison the entire next season and get him back where he belongs in the firm. Love all the characters on the show, let them get back to doing what has made this show so great.
Totally a fan. I couldn’t believe I spent 5 years watching Suits only to find Mike goes to prison and the firm falls apart in the final episode. Thank you for bringing it back so that “hopefully” it will end on a good note. The last episodes had me on the edge of my chair wanting more! Well done.
I love the show. I thought that this season (2015-16) was the series finale. Even it did end there, it would have been a good ending to a great show. I’m so glad I was wrong and we get treated to at least one more season.
Love, love, love suits. Have watched since day 1. I am also hoping Mike gets his degree in prison & comes out & shows them all. Can’t wait for next season.
But you can’t practice law as a convicted felon. So that wouldn’t work.
Jayne has the right idea. Dual plots with Mike being the lawyer version of Shawshank Redemption. And the firm’s employees are not gone, they are in the big conference room pulling together in support of their work.
Can’t he get his degree in prison come out and start
Love this show. Can’t believe Mike went to prison. I hope he gets out early for good behaviour. Great work guys can’t wait for next season. Hope it is soon.
I love the show. I’m so glad the secret is out and over. I’d like to see how creative the cases become now that everyone knows. Maybe Mike should complete his law degree while he is in Prison.
