The CW has been having some great success with DC Comics superhero shows. Now, CBS has gotten into the game with their own entry — Supergirl. While Arrow and The Flash fit well with rest of The CW’s programming, Supergirl seems out of place on CBS, a network known for older-skewing procedurals. Will the new series soar in the ratings or will it crash? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Supergirl revolves around Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). As a girl, she survived Krypton’s destruction by being sent to Earth where she was raised as a human. She kept her powers a secret and now, as an adult, works as an assistant at a big city media conglomerate. Kara’s existence becomes known to the world and she is enlisted by a super-secret agency to help protect the citizens from evil forces as Supergirl. The rest of the cast includes Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood, and Jeremy Jordan.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: Supergirl has been renewed for a second season but is moving to The CW.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

12/28 update: The ratings keep falling. Cancel or keep this superhero series?
This show has turned into something fantastic and drama I can’t wait until next week
So at week 18 Supergirl is the most popular superhero show of any superhero shows on TV at 22 for the 18-49 demo, with the next one being Gotham at 42, then Agents of Shield at 50, Flash at 52, Arrow at 82, and Agent Carter all the way down at 94, and Supergirl gets the article about it being in danger of being cancelled due to poor ratings?
