It seems the Brothers Winchester will be taking exit 15. Today, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins released a video confirming that the 15th season of Supernatural will also be its final outing. That’s right; it’s official. The Supernatural TV show on The CW will end with season 15. Fans who have been with it from the beginning may remember sweating out the “cancellation or renewal” question every spring in the show’s early years and marvel that we’ve come this far in a black 1967 Chevy Impala. Take a moment to take it all in, then watch the two-part announcement, below.
A CW paranormal horror drama, season 14 of Supernatural stars Jared Padaldecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester (and sometimes the latest incarnation of the archangel Michael). The cast also includes Misha Collins as Castiel and Alexander Calvert as Jack. This year, guest stars include Jim Beaver, Kim Rhodes, Ruth Connell, Briana Buckmaster, Kathryn Newton, Katherine Ramdeen, Clark Blacko, Yadira Guevara-Prip, Samantha Smith, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Amanda Tapping, Danneel Ackles, and Felicia Day.
Supernatural to End with Season 15
As they talked about approaching the “grande finale,” the “boys,” which was once a more apt term, all agreed to save the emotion for Supernatural‘s 15th and final season on The CW. Ackles made sure to include a tribute to creator Eric Kripke, and the Supernatural family. It’s pretty clear from their video that this was a creative decision, rather than one of network caprice. It’s also nice that they’ll get a final season to end the show on its own terms. Supernatural received an early season 15 renewal on January 15, 2019.
Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins all tweeted out the video to fans, as well. #SPNFamily, indeed.
Supernatural: A Look at the Ratings
The 14th season of Supernatural is averaging a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.46 million viewers. Compared to season 13, that’s down by 23% and 13%, respectively. Even with that drop Supernatural is still the second highest rated scripted CW TV show. Here’s hoping that it goes out on a high point.
What do you think? Are you still watching the Supernatural TV show on The CW. Is season 15 the right time to end it, or would you watch through season 16 and beyond?
I do not believe i have ever miss an episode. I will be very sorry to see this show end. They always manage to keep it fresh.
Oh please don’t cancel the show. Then supernatural fans will have nothing to watch. Nothing can or ever will beat supernatural.
Please don’t cancel this show.
Very sad news. I have watched since the beginning, along with all the reruns daily. I guess it is time for the boys to ride off into the sunset but I will miss them terribly.
Possibly a spin off for Jack??
I am so devastated I am 64 and I love the show, my husband and I watch every week don’t know what to do without the boys
All good things come to an end eventually. It has been a wonderful ride up until now, with one more season to go. Hopefully they’ll wrap things up in a satisfying way since they know when it will end.
Let’s be honest. This show has been my coping mechanism for a year and half. (This show is as old as me) Us, SpN family, were so happy that we got renewed for season 15. Yay!….but then the bomb dropped and they said it’s the final season. Crying? Yes. Trying to figure out how I can go through my life? Definitely. Gonna miss the show with my whole soul? Absolutely. And I have been part of the family for not-so-long. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for people who watched this show from beginning and literally grew up… Read more »
I’m very sad and upset that supernatural is ending. I watch it every time it’s on and I will miss the Winchester’s and all the actors and actresses that has made the show so great. Every one of you will be missed badly.
What a gloriously entertaining, long and wild ride it has been. I love looking back sometimes just to see how YOUNG these gorgeous hunks were when they embarked on this grand adventure. 15 seasons. W-O-W. You boys (you, too, Misha/Castiel) have given me so much pleasure, so many great laughs. I love you all. (You, too, Mark Shepherd and Ruth Connell. Tour de force, hard working talented actors, each and all of you.)
I have always been a fan, but it’s not the same quality these last few seasons. I have no doubt that it will end strong!
I have lived with and through these characters. They are bonded to me throughout the whole series run and a good part of my life. This is heartbreaking as it’s my favorite show by far. I pray that there can be some reprieve. When AT&T bought Warner Bros, they told HBO they needed to do better (can you believe that?!) and also started a war with DISH (DISH revolted and no longer carries HBO). HBO head QUIT recently. I hope that AT&T isn’t the devil here thinking they can do better, b/c they CAN’T!! Maybe Netflix can do projects with… Read more »
Don’t end!!!
I have watched Supernatural since season one and I’m not ready for this to be the last season. They have been able to grow and change storylines and plots where it always stayed fresh and exciting. Hopefully CW will rethink the cancelation and bring them back for season 16.
It’s about time. What source of income did these guys have? Dental or medical plan?
As a child my first love was the Hady Boys, which played in the Nancy Drew Mystery’s. Super Natural has become my second love, the show felt real with the characters. Emotions would run high, with love, passion. and real family problems, even if you were fighting the paranormal. I will truley, with all my heart miss all of you. I would like to see some of the actors try something else out. I did watch the Orginals and now there is Legacies. It would be really nice if the writers could come up with something along those lines, after… Read more »
March 22… became actually THE WORST day of my life…. :'(
still watching. been watching since day 1. I admit not liking much of S14, but I didn’t like S7 too much either. anyway, I was surprised that they agreed to S15 and I thought it would be the last one. but to actually have it confirmed? I want to say nooooooo. but its time. their kids are growing up and need them, and they need to branch out. I think Jensen will continue to act, misha can’t act, and I think that jared will take a step back for awhile. I just hope the guys stay ‘friends’ afterwards. this show… Read more »
