It seems the Brothers Winchester will be taking exit 15. Today, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins released a video confirming that the 15th season of Supernatural will also be its final outing. That’s right; it’s official. The Supernatural TV show on The CW will end with season 15. Fans who have been with it from the beginning may remember sweating out the “cancellation or renewal” question every spring in the show’s early years and marvel that we’ve come this far in a black 1967 Chevy Impala. Take a moment to take it all in, then watch the two-part announcement, below.
A CW paranormal horror drama, season 14 of Supernatural stars Jared Padaldecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester (and sometimes the latest incarnation of the archangel Michael). The cast also includes Misha Collins as Castiel and Alexander Calvert as Jack. This year, guest stars include Jim Beaver, Kim Rhodes, Ruth Connell, Briana Buckmaster, Kathryn Newton, Katherine Ramdeen, Clark Blacko, Yadira Guevara-Prip, Samantha Smith, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Amanda Tapping, Danneel Ackles, and Felicia Day.
Supernatural to End with Season 15
As they talked about approaching the “grande finale,” the “boys,” which was once a more apt term, all agreed to save the emotion for Supernatural‘s 15th and final season on The CW. Ackles made sure to include a tribute to creator Eric Kripke, and the Supernatural family. It’s pretty clear from their video that this was a creative decision, rather than one of network caprice. It’s also nice that they’ll get a final season to end the show on its own terms. Supernatural received an early season 15 renewal on January 15, 2019.
Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins all tweeted out the video to fans, as well. #SPNFamily, indeed.
Supernatural: A Look at the Ratings
The 14th season of Supernatural is averaging a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.46 million viewers. Compared to season 13, that’s down by 23% and 13%, respectively. Even with that drop Supernatural is still the second highest rated scripted CW TV show. Here’s hoping that it goes out on a high point.
What do you think? Are you still watching the Supernatural TV show on The CW. Is season 15 the right time to end it, or would you watch through season 16 and beyond?
I would watch Supernatural as long as it aired. I watch reruns on tnt and I have all the seasons on dvds. I’m 70 yrs of age and it is my favorite TV show. I watch with my 16 year old great granddaughter. Thank you for making life more exciting for this lady!
I wish that they would keep Supernatural! It’s one of my favorite shows! PLEASE stay on PLEASE stay on! You are the only show that I always knew would be on another season and to find out here getting canceled I’m so sad I am going to tell everybody to watch the show maybe it’ll raise the ratings enough to keep you
This is just so sad !!!! Such a great show and all the guys are fantastic actors The writing is always exciting and funny The best show on tv .Wish they would change their minds .
OMG this is so devastating :'( I have watched Supernatural from day one, it’s been the best series by far what will my life be without Supernatural, I always look forward to what happens next in the Winchester’s journey, I don’t want this journey to end guys, don’t hand in the towel just yet you got so much more to tell us, you’re such a big part of the Supernatural fans hearts that we will miss you so much, please please reconsider and give us more stories of the Winchester’s journey even if the seasons are shorter its better than… Read more »
I have watched it from Day 1 and would continue for many more years. Please continue. I would watch season 16 thru 20 and more!!! My favorite show, and favorite actors.
Never want this to end!! Supernatural is my absolute favorite show of all time!!
Not sad about this at all. The Dean character was a one trick pony. Dean has spent 15 seasons gripping like an old widow woman and insisting everything goes “according to Dean”. In the final episode please let Sam, aka Moose, knock Dean out just once. Not going to miss this show, stopped watching on a regular basis in season 3.
I’m just sick over this. I would have watched for another 10 seasons. My daughter will be heartbroken. Praying that they change their minds about this.
If they collectively agreed that now is the time, then it’s better to leave with a bang rather than a whimper (as so many other shows have done).
I’ve seen every episode and it was a great ride – let’s hope S15 is a barnstormer and an appropriately dramatic ending to a great run.
All the cast and crew have been spot on.
I would watch it through 30 episodes love the show hope they change there minds about ending the show great show don’t want it to end
thank you to every single member of supernatural i love all with all my heart
hi to every one i’am with you we all going to the two brothers and all others thank for giving us the best show on tv i wish the best for every one with all my heart thank you love you all
Please,do not stop..I have raise my boys watching this show ,hoping how they will support each other in life. This is not just story about supernatural. It’s about friendship,family,loyalty..what is right..so please do not stop.
Do something historical..last!
This show during all those years has make a big impact on people’s life.
So dont stop.. be different as you already are and continue to be part of life ,us ordinary people.
Thank you for all those wonderful years
I’am with you
I’m 64 and got hooked on Supernatural with my soon, then a teen, and my oldest daughter who was then 30. I would keep watching it. Not only do I like horror but Supernatural is also about family loyalty, staying strong under what seems like unsurmountable odds, the battle between good and evil, and mixes comedy with horror unlike other similar shows which are either stupid and cheesy, only geared towards teenagers rather than viewers of all ages. I will truly be sorry to see it end and hope by some fluke that it continues, or maybe the CW can… Read more »
I am devastated at the news of its cancellation!.. the show has always been entertaining, great story lines with that great humour and dark undertones. The cast have always been so good at keeping you hooked even for a supernatural programme you almost feel it’s real and are living the episode with them. I’ll miss it I am keeping my fingers crossed that they change their minds and give us something else.. thank you for the past 15 years it’s been about journey! X
