What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the TNT cable channel, season two of The Alienist stars Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning, Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Robert Ray Wisdom, Ted Levine, Melanie Field, and Rosy McEwen. The second season, aka Angel of Darkness, takes place in New York City in 1897 where Sara Howard (Fanning) has opened a pioneering private detective agency. She reunites with formidable alienist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Brühl) and New York Times journalist John Moore (Evans) to find the kidnapped infant daughter of a Spanish dignitary. Their investigation leads them into a sinister path of corruption and deceit, towards a dangerous and elusive killer.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Alienist (aka Angel of Darkness) averaged a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.04 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 52% in the demo and down by 41% in viewership. Find out how The Alienist stacks up against other TNT TV shows.

Will TNT cancel or renew The Alienist for season three? Angel of Darkness is based on the sequel novel by Caleb Carr. A third book has been published and a fourth, The Alienist at Armageddon, is in the works. So a third season could be based on one of those or, the producers could make an original story. TNT aired two episodes a week and season two’s ratings were quite low so, there’s a good chance there won’t be a third season anyway. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. The Alienist is a great show. It has a lot of passion and intrigue. The characters are excellent and the theme of the olden times are so real that you feel you are there. I hope the show renews with TNT very soon. We all can use a great series during these trying time

It’s been a while since I’ve been hooked on a television series. Please tell me there’s a Season 3 on the way. Dakota is amazing. And the diversity and current topics blended into this wonderfully suspenseful show… I’m hooked!
The Alienist has many, many devoted viewers. The first season was a wonderful show with a drab ending. The second season was much better all around. The acting, by all involved, was superb. The intense plotline made it so hard to wait for the next episode!
I believe the third season will be one we have all been looking forward to from the very first. The writer, creators, actors, will be more practiced and comfortable with their roles. I know it will surpass the first two seasons.
We ALL can’t wait!

I have been waiting for the 3rd season on hooks. It seems like every time a GREAT show finally hits the set it goes away again right away. I don’t get it. Fabulous acting, amazing plot and set designs add up to what?? Please may we have more.
This is one of the best series to come along in a while, very well acted and period costumes were so interesting. I, strongly feel there should be a 3rd and 4th season !

This show is fantastic, best in years. Great acting, story lines, settings/fashion designs, etc. Sure hope there will be more seasons.
