NBC isn’t staying friends with The Enemy Within. The network has cancelled the freshman drama series so there won’t be a second season coming for 2019-20.
A psychological thriller, The Enemy Within stars Jennifer Carpenter, Morris Chestnut, Raza Jaffrey, Kelli Garner, Cassandra Freeman, and Noah Mills. The character-based drama centers on former CIA operative and now infamous traitor Erica Shepherd (Carpenter) and FBI Agent Will Keaton (Chestnut). In order to apprehend a looming threat, Keaton must tap Shepherd’s expertise, even though she’s serving a life sentence in a supermax prison.
The first season of The Enemy Within averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.40 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 20th.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, the series ranks 10th in the demo and seventh in total viewers. Based on the rankings, it would seem like the series would be renewed but the ratings trended downward as the season progressed. Considering that The Enemy Within had The Voice as a lead-in, NBC execs were likely not satisfied with the show’s low retention rate either.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Village and Abby’s TV shows.

This show was fantastic! Shows like FBI are good but this was like a movie every week-truly a notch above…please renew for season 2!
In all honesty I think this is ********. It is Ann amazing show and always keeps you wondering and excited to see the following episode. I understand that shows are cancelled but this is omen of the shows that just can’t be left on a cliffhange like that. There should Atleast be a follow up episode or season to put viewers at ease.
Intellectual, suspenseful, entertaining!! Great story line, great actors! Please dont cancel this….
A great series, much better than many shows that are on for multiple seasons. Wish they would reconsider.

Very bad decision. Well written, well acted. Watch one episode of this show followed by an episode of NCIS Low Angeles. Good God has that show survived?!?!
I think this stinks this was a gteat show. I really do t think I will watch NBC anymore.
Amazing that this show was cancelled. Great writing and great acting. With so much crap on and NBC cancels a very good show. Way to go NBC.
This is a great show with intriguing storylines, interesting characters, and great actors. I think it’s plain MEAN that NBC cancels a high quality show compounding mean with loose ends. Something wrong with someone who does that. My husband loves the show and he rarely watches anything but Hitler and WWII. His heroes are Band of Brothers. But he never missed an episode.
I can’t believe NBC is cancelling one of the best shows on TV!!! It was like watching a great movie every episode!!! Let’s go season 2!!
I cannot believe that they are not having season two of the enemy within! I am devastated! I have watched season one three more times on waiting for it to come back on this fall.

My wife and I really enjoyed The Enemy Within. I hope the network will reconsider and bring the show back. A lot of shows on TV but not a lot of good ones. The Enemy Within was o good show worth watching every week. Putting it on after the Voice was too late. Should have been earlier.

IF NBC WOULD MOVE “THE ENEMY WITHIN” TO A 8:00 PM OR A 9:00 PM TIME SLOT ON A TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY THE SHOW WOULD GO FROM A GOOD 7 TO A OUTSTANDING 3 TO 4 AND JUST KEEP GOING GOOD RIGHT TO THE TOP. YOU (NBC) SHOULD GIVE IT THE SAME GOOD BACKING AND TIME THAT YOU DID FOR “THE BLACKLIST”. HOPE YOU WILL GIVE IT CONSIDER RATION OR SELL IT TO THE “FOX
NETWORK.
