The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots just kicked off on OWN this week. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it seems like the Tyler Perry drama is coming to an end in 2021 and won’t have a ninth season.
Airing on Tuesday nights, The Haves and the Have Nots stars John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Angela Robinson, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Peter Parros, Tyler Lepley, Gavin Houston, and Aaron O’Connell. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the Cryer, Harrington, and Young families of Savannah, Georgia. In season eight of this drama series, Judge Cryer (Schneider) and his rich friends are all finding out what happens when personal flaws go unchecked. Karma has not been kind to the elite one-percenters.
The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots currently averages a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 873,000 viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 60% in the demo and down by 34% in viewership. The series was once the cable channel’s highest-rated show but the premiere’s numbers put it much closer to the bottom of the list. Is it time for the show to end?
New York Post recently ran a profile about Robinson under the title “Haves and Have Nots star breaks down its final season”. The article goes on to confirms that the series is ending by noting “It kicks off its final season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the cable network.” and “Robinson tells fans to expect the final season of The Haves and Have Nots to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
But wait, hasn’t the cast already filmed a ninth season? Maybe not.
In 2019, Houston said that he was about to start filming the ninth season of the series. The season lengths for this series have been very inconsistent — ranging from nine to 44 episodes a season — so, OWN could have changed their plans about how the episodes would be grouped.
OWN has been quiet about the show’s immediate future. However, Perry’s other shows on the channel have already ended. In 2017, Perry signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of television each year for ViacomCBS outlets (including BET and BET+) so that’s been keeping him very busy.
It’s unclear how many episodes in season eight but hopefully, The Haves and the Have Nots will have a satisfying conclusion.

I’m a huge fan of Tyler Perry. I have enjoyed The Haves and Have Nots despite some of the lackluster acting. However, the series’ story lines have been dragged out quite a bit. The series needs to be drawn to a close.
Whoever is writing this is full of crap everyone watches this and the reruns but as usual u don’t want a black person having squat. Shame on you tell the truth ( Haters)
It sucks to end the show that’s why I don’t like get to involved in these shows because there always doing something stupid ,find out what gave it its strong numbers then pick up from there keep it going cause I need need you’ll to put Katherine and Hannah together as power house friends, make some good come from Veronica and David but still keep her as the lovely batch and powerful ,cause if black people get this power rules they need to keep them. The show has gotten interesting. I think acting could be better but the story line is great. Hope it doesn’t end.
I really enjoy the show and hate to see it end and now there will be nothing to watch on Tuesday night.
OMG! I looked forward to seeing this Production every Season. I’m sooo sad to hear that it’s ending; I hope there will be a spin-off.

I love this show, and I’m a real big fan, I hope Tyler Perry can find some time in his busy schedule and continue to write scripts. I would be very disappointed to see my favorite show end.

There are so many positive messages in Mr Tyler’s work. I love the have and have nots !!!! Why is all the tyler perry shows taken off !!! Me & my friends use to watch them all now all we have is have and have nots keep it on
I love THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS. I’ll be so sorry to see this end. I’m not sure what I’ll watch on Tuesday nights.
I really enjoy the tv show Haves & Have Nots. I dont watch tv that much but always look forward to Tuesday’s to watch this program. I will be very disappointed to see it cancelled

I like this. Very much but the writers got off on to much Gay stuff that kill the ratings and lots of boring parts sometimes the first 7 sessions was good then 8 his been really lay back like writers got lazy love to see it get more like the old then rating will go back up get Reid of so much Gay stuff Are all. But hope we can have few more years.

I Love both programs and I dislike my FAVORITE TV shows are being taken off the air. My cousins and I watch together and give our opinions on what we think is going to happen. We will moss our family time together!

Please don’t cancel the show, I am late to the HAHN family, I caught up on the show on Hulu, and I am hooked. I love the long seasons, and the show keeps your attention. I just added OWN to my package just for the show, I will cancel if and when the show ends. It would be nice if this show can run as long as some of the popular soaps that been on for years, im sure viewers went up and down over the years. Keep it on for the true fans.
