NBC is hoping that fans of The Night Shift will continue staying up to watch their medical drama. They’ve renewed it for a third season.
The Night Shift revolves around the quirky but devoted staffmembers of San Antonio Memorial Hospital who work from dusk til dawn. The cast of the medical drama includes Eoin Macken, Freddy Rodriguez, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Robert Bailey Jr., Brendan Fehr, Jeananne Goossen, and J.R. Lemon.
The medical drama debuted last May and performed pretty well for a series running over the summer months. The season of 10 episodes averaged a 1.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.59 million viewers.
The peacock network renewed it for a second season of 14 episodes and brought it back a couple months ago. Despite having a big series like The Voice as a lead-in, the ratings have actually come down. It’s currently averaging a 1.3 in the demo with 5.32 million.
Nevertheless, it has performed better than many other NBC dramas. As a result, the network has now renewed The Night Shift for a third season. No word on how many episodes have been ordered this time around or when they’ll air them.

I am hooked on the show i love it. I am not a reality show person i find it refreshing to watch a show that entertaing . The only thing i hate is in canada they never show you previews for the next week show. I hope it continues.

I not only think it should be renewed I think the season should be expanded. I am always ready for more when the season is over. Please consider a longer season next year.
One of the worst written and acted shows i have seen in a long time…..can’t believe it’s been renewed, probably due to no one changing the channel after “The Voice”
I love night shift! ! It’s one of my most favorite shows! I love cop shows from Rookie Blue to CSI, Night Shift is the only Medical tv shows out there right now and I am absolutely addicted to this show, I can’t imagine it not going on! I am very upset lately about the handful of great tv shows ending so quickly when they are in demand, your viewers want more!
I’m thrilled to see that “Night Shift” has been set for a 3 rd. Season. I always looked forward to The Voice & then “Night Shift” which followed! IMO It’s one of the best on TV…thanks for another season & hope many more seasons to come! Keep us posted as to day & time if that has been changed!

I think Night Shift is a well done series. It is certainly worthy of renewal over some of the terrible series that are renew year after year.
