The Queen’s Gambit wrapped after one season on Netflix in November, but viewers have been hoping for more of chess prodigy Beth Harmon’s story. The series has been very successful for the streaming service so, could there be a second season in the works?
Executive producer William Horberg released a statement after the series received two Golden Globe nominations (one for Limited Series and the other for Anya Taylor-Joy as the Best Actress in a Limited Series) and he made it clear a second season will not happen. He said the following about the Netflix series, per Deadline:
“It’s wonderful to know that people loved the show where they want to spend more time with these characters; we never envisioned it that way. We felt that the series had a satisfying endpoint and we’d allow the audience to fill in the space as to what happens next for Beth Harmon. Nothing has changed, despite fans demanding more on my Twitter feed. Scott and I feel really happy about the completeness of Beth’s story.”
The Queen’s Gambit was watched by 62 million viewers in its first month on Netflix, making it the streaming service’s “biggest scripted limited series to date”.

Yes I would watch a second series the series was so beautiful. I love the chess so please do as second season. Beth as so much to do she has to become a Grandmaster.
If a second season was made I would of course watch it because the first was absolutely amazing. But with that said, I don’t think a second season should be made. It was perfect just how it ended. A bit of mystery but a whole lot of satisfaction.

I thoroughly enjoyed the series but would not watch a second season as it had a beautiful ending and adding a second season would only detract from Beth’s story.
Yes great show in so many different ways especially chess a game I’ve played all my life. I would watch a second series but I doubt it be as good as the first
It was truly a masterpiece in every way, between the story, the characters, the photography. I don’t know if they can meet or exceed what they have already done with the story up to this point, unless she follows in Bobby Fisher’s footsteps, where he went from one of the most admired men in America to one of the most hated. Eventually loosing his grip on reality and dying at an early age.

yes, I would like to see a second season.
I watched QG multiple times. I also bought the book and downloaded the soundtrack. It was perfect as is, and I can’t imagine how a second season could add anything to the experience. Besides, author Walter Tevis is no longer alive and new writers would not have his work to build on. Sometimes we need to leave well enough alone. I’ve already imagined how Beth’s life would have progressed. So I don’t need anything else.

Yes! I would enjoy a second season because I loved the characters, among other important aspects. Suggest different topic focus as a possibility. EG: trendy issues such as social justice, climate, feminism, science, dystopia, etc
The short series was truly brilliant with such a great cast and wonderful acting.
Having said that there isn’t a need for a second series as the first was perfect.
Less is more and so let’s move on !
Agree with you alot of times too watch it. Only watch series at least one times so good no more it over.
I would watch it, but I don’t want them to make a second season. I have watched the series close to 20 times now, and will continue to watch it. Why can’t people be satisfied with the ending as it is and form their own endings? Or is that beyond their capabilities? The series ended where the book ended and the author is dead, so let his story end where it did.
