TV show description:
From creator Alexi Hawley, The Rookie TV show is an hourlong comedy-drama that centers on John Nolan (Fillion). After a life-changing experience, this small-town guy decides to do just that — change his life.
Now, John is working toward his dream of being a Los Angeles police officer. The thing is, he is the oldest rookie on the LAPD, and the brass looks at him like the embodiment of a midlife crisis.
John’s co-workers include Talia Bishop (Williamson), a new training officer, and he’s her first student. The other training officers include the high-handed Tim Bradford (Winter) and Angela Lopez (Diaz), who is shooting to become a detective trainee.
Rounding out the cast of characters are rookies Lucy Chen (O’Neil), Jackson West (Makin), Sergeant Wade Grey (Jones), and Nolan’s C.O. Zoe Andersen (Mason).
If John fails to keep up with his young colleagues, as well as young criminals, he will be putting lives at risk, including his own. Maybe though, he can use the experience he’s gained with age, and the determination he has developed over the years, to make a real go of it. Either way, he’s got a secret weapon — his sense of humor.

I really enjoy The Rookie. I hope it continues! Great story lines and I like Nathan Fillion. He adds to any series.
The surprising thing about The Rookie is that although Nathan Fillion is the “focus” of the show, the cast is deep and their acting is compelling (most of the time). The writing is a surprise…I didn’t think there was anyone left out there that could write that well. I was a fan of Firefly and thus, a Fillion Fan; the only reason I gravitated to it. I’m glad I did and I hope like hell ABC is more perceptive than FOX. This show has legs.
I love this show and the cast of characters and pray it will be renewed for next year.
Not many shows worth watching these days…. However, The Rookie is a show I won’t miss! The story lines are captivating, and the acting is real. A definite ABC keeper!! Has to be renewed!

This show is far better than I expected. Straightforward, utilizes Fillion’s skills and charm.
Much more serious and complex than Castle. Excellent ensemble cast, really seems too want to get details right while still telling an engaging story each week. One of my few DVR series I look forward to each week. If Netflix, it would be a binge series

Love this show. My husband loves this show. Just the right amount of comic relief to balance the seriousness of most of the content. Please do not cancel. It’s the only show we watch on ABC.
I liked The Rookie for it’s originality. It can be funny and dramatic.
This is a very enjoyable program. I am very hopeful that it will be renewed. I look forward to seeing many more episodes in the future.
