Harry Ambrose will be getting some well-earned rest. USA Network has opted to discontinue The Sinner TV show so there won’t be a fifth season. The fourth season finale, now the series finale, will air on December 1st.
A mystery crime drama series, The Sinner stars Bill Pullman, Frances Fisher, Alice Kremelberg, Neal Huff, Cindy Cheung, Ronin Wong with Jessica Hecht and Michael Mosley. Season four finds now-retired detective Harry Ambrose (Pullman) Still reeling from the trauma of a previous case a year ago. He travels to Hanover Island in northern Maine for a recuperative getaway with his partner, Sonya (Hecht). When an unexpected tragedy occurs involving the daughter of a prominent island family, Ambrose is recruited to help the investigation, only to be thrown into a mystery of mounting paranoia that will turn this sleepy tourist island, and Ambrose’s life, upside down.
Airing on Wednesday nights, the fourth season of The Sinner averages a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 412,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 49% in the demo and down by 37% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM).
With The Sinner coming to an end, USA Network seems to be finished producing original scripted series. Dirty John appears unlikely to be renewed (the last new episode aired 16 months ago), and the cable channel shares the current Chucky series with sister channel Syfy. There are unscripted shows in the works.

USA had a lot of great original hits, Monk,Psych, Suits, White Collar, etc……..It’s too bad they won’t be making shows anymore. What are they going to put on more stupid reality shows and more repeats of other shows? such a disappointment
I’ve watched every episode of all the seasons. Disappointed my Wednesday nights will no longer be spent with Harry Ambrose.
Will miss Sinner sad to see it’s end.

I will miss the show. I have loved all four seasons. The story line always keeps me on the edge of my seat. I wish another network would pick it up.
I love this show. I’m actually watching it right now. Maybe if it was advertised more by the network it would have higher rating. I don’t understand why this is being canceled, when their or other shows that don’t catch your eye like this one. Terrible to hear that it will be canceled
Oh, yeah. I’d rather watch Chrisley – NOT. Is there any reason to watch USA network any more?

I’m sad to see Harry Ambrose go. It was an excellent existential journey over 4 seasons. Loved every minute of it! Superb tv serie that is far better than most crime shows produced in US.

I loved this show. I have watched every season, and I think it sucks that it has been cancelled!
Naturally a Devil would like this one from the beginning, just based on the title alone. But this season has really bored the unholy **** out of me. Maybe they can bring it back again at some point in the future. Most of the seasons plotlines could have been resolved in a 2 hour TV movie anyway, or a 6 hour mini series at most.
