NBC has evicted one of its newest drama series. The network has cancelled The Village TV show so there won’t be a second season.
The Village stars Warren Christie, Michaela McManus, Lorraine Toussaint, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Dominic Chianese, Darren Kagasoff, Grace Van Dien, and Moran Atias. The story centers on the residents of a Brooklyn apartment building. While it looks the same as countless others from the outside, what goes on inside is rare, to say the least. Everyone at the Village has a story to tell, be it about their hopes and dreams, or the challenges they’re facing. Together, they’re a family and family means everything — even when you are not related.
The first season of The Village averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.12 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 21st.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Village ranks 13th in the demo and ninth in viewership. The series saw a momentary bump in the ratings ratings when NBC moved it an earlier timeslot but it didn’t last and the numbers soon hit new lows.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Enemy Within and Abby’s TV shows.

NBC had the three best written shows on network tv; This Is Us, New Amsterdam and The Village. I am saddened by the fact that The Village is cancelled, but stupid mindless reality shows stay. Makes no sense to me.
We are devastated that the Village has been cancelled. Finally a nice family show, not too many of them on television these days. We were moved with every episode . Such a great written show!!
PLEASE RECONSIDER this decision. Give it a chance!!
Too many stupid shows on television right now and this is the one show we couldn’t wait to see week after week.
I am truly disappointed to hear about The Village’s cancellation. I feel it at least deserves two seasons to prove itself. I enjoyed that it was a wholesome story of real life conflicts without embarrassing sex scenes and vulgar language. I agree that this should stay and you can get rid of the overabundance of ridiculous reality shows.
So sad to see such a good series removed. This show helped us experience community, which is what we need. loved the characters and story lines. would love to see what happens next as there we so many unanswered questions.
Extremely upset it has been cancelled. Finally a decent show that portrays real life scenarios and it gets cancelled. Thoroughly disgusted. Loved the show. When you finally air something decent it goes away after one season. Hate to start watching new shows. Please bring it back.
I will dare to go against the grain and present a different perspective here. While we like the humanity which permeates the characters’ stories, a show cannot survive on overt sentimentality and the proverbial eye candy alone. Take for example the artist/boyfriend: his cutesy lines invariably made me roll my eyes in disgust. I choose not to belabor the point by analyzing the other equally annoying subplots. I can’t believe The Village is going to be cancelled. All I can say that it is stupid stupid stupid, why is it when I find a show I like they take it off air. Why not take off all this dumb game shows or reality shows.
I just found out that “The Village” was canceled. It was one of the sweetest and most loving shows on TV. It was one of the few I kept track of to make sure I watched. It was a show of true Heart. Where you felt the characters truly cared about each other. But we’re also human. And had their own issues. But still love was always in the Forefront. And you take it away!! You didn’t even give it a chance! Very sad!!!
I am heart broken that “The Village” has been cancelled. Myself and a co-worker have been anxiously awaiting to hear that hopefully “The Village” will be back but unfortunately that will not happen. When I tell her the news, she will be even more heart broken than I am.
I’m very disappointed to see one of the best new shows cancelled. The Village was so engaging and had a great story line every week. Please allow season 2 to air! Don’t cancel it!
Absolutely please bring back The Village. It was the best show, I feel better than This Is US and I enjoy that show. Put it on one night and leave it. Never good to move them around. PLEase bring it back.
Ridiculous that they cancelled this awesome family show. It has no killings, nudity, foul language and delivers a great message each week. Guess that doesn’t appeal to today’s generations so NBC decided to cancel it. So tired of all the good shows like this being cancelled to support shows our children can’t or shouldn’t watch! BRING IT BACK!
I can’t believe The Village season 2 is cancelled. I’ve been anxiously waiting to see the continuation of one of my favorite shows. Please change your minds and consider releasing the next season.
