The Winchesters and Walker: Independence won’t be getting additional episode orders for their inaugural seasons. There will be just 13 episodes of each. The Winchesters currently airs on Tuesday nights, and Walker: Independence airs on Thursdays.
Are the lack of full-season orders a sign that the dramas will be cancelled? It’s unclear what the future of any original CW series will be, given the recent acquisition by Nexstar Media Group. Deadline revealed that network head Dennis Miller has stressed to producers and the series’ stars that no decisions about next season have been made.
Still, four CW scripted series are ending this season — The Flash, Riverdale, Nancy Drew, and DC’s Stargirl — and the list is expected to grow throughout the 2022-23 season. Word is that The CW’s new management wants to pay a $1 million license fee per episode for its original scripted series, requiring a restructuring of deals with suppliers CBS Studios and Warner Bros. Television. Episodes typically cost the network about $2 million each.
What do you think? Are you a fan of these two CW series? Do you want to see both shows renewed for second seasons?
I really enjoy both series. The CW has robbed us of enough popular series as it is. Some of the new series that have come out are a joke. The CW is going to cancel itself into the dirt.
Cw will be a terrible channel, they’ll follow the other boring channels thirty cop, fire, justice shows, followed by a ton of idol type shows .
Walker Independence and Winchester they’re just getting rooted there’s so much TV out there and some are falling flat on your ass but these shows have great story lines please keep these shows going! There’s not enough Western shows out there and this one is a great show!
Leave the show i am a Supernatural fan for years i like how Sam and Dean got started please leave the show on thant u
CW has stopped trying, and is letting the new owner start from scratch.
What is the deal with the CW? Canceling all DC shows now Winchester’s & Walker independence not sure of a 2nd season. Maybe they’ll be happy when everyone stops watching the network altogether
I think what new owner is doing is horrible…why save the cw if no one is going to watch your new programming….I will ban new shows from now on
Walker:independence is a great show. The characters are just getting developed and the story is interesting. Please don’t cancel it.
As for the Winchester’s it’s starting to get better. It’s not supernatural but I see potential for the show. Don’t cancel the Winchester’s.
It seems CW is cancelling everything… I like walker Independence.. Haven’t had a chance to watch The Winchesters. Won’t now…
The Winchesters is developing a story about The Family. John was just told he has the strength to fight the new monster that will want to end the world. Dean still narrates. Mary still has to find her father, fall in love with John and meet the Yellow Eye Demon. They have to run the show for several seasons to be fair to the fans!
I’ve gotten completely hooked into The Winchesters. Didn’t know that this show existed and wouldn’t have if I hadn’t accidently seen it on my menu. Being a total Supernatural fanatic, I was thrilled to see this and it’s held up to my expectations. The CW shouldn’t be cancelling shows that they don’t even give the public a chance to check out. A lot of shows that didn’t start out with a big audience turned into some of the most popular shows on TV. They got to give it a chance.
‘The Winchesters’ was growing on me. It felt a bit like ‘Supernatural’, same lore and all. Seasons 2 till about halfway season 6 of ‘Supernatural’ were awesome and got into a slower, but still very enjoyable pace. Hence I kept watching that show. ‘The Winchesters’ got back to that pace quickly too. So it was generating the same joy with me. Familiarity with the ‘Supernatural’-universe was (and is) something to strive for. Here’s hoping that ‘The Winchesters’ gets saved from the clutches of whatever entity is possessing the current CW management. Perhaps ‘Dean’ from ‘Supernatural’ should stop his voice-over work,… Read more »
CW is quickly becoming a station that runs shows from other stations/countries that are a year or 2 old. I get it, it’s cheaper than running new shows. There is a Canadian station that does this all the time. The only problem is they run shows that only ran for one season and got cancelled. Now I google the “new” show they are going to run and see if it’s more than one season and if it’s been renewed for another one. If it hasn’t been renewed I won’t watch it. I’m not going to invest the time only to… Read more »
I don’t understand what’s going on here ! Why did the CW order new series if they’re just going to cancel everything
So unfortunate how tv has become these days you can’t get hooked on anything without them disappearing
It’s clear as day CW is clearing house completely
The network has new owners now these new series were ordered by the last president.
The CW was sold, the new owners are cutting costs and practically canceling all scripted shows. It looks like the new guy running the CW now is more into reality shows.
I haven’t had a chance to watch Winchesters but Walker Independence is pretty good.
CW had been cancelling all their shows, so I’m not surprised.
