What’s in store for Maura? Transparent creator Jill Soloway just revealed the fate of Jeffrey Tambor’s character on the Amazon TV show, Variety reports.
Tambor plays Maura, a transgender woman, on the comedy-drama. The cast also includes Judith Light, Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, Rob Huebel, Kathryn Hahn, Alexandra Billings, and Melora Hardin.
Last year, we reported Jeffrey Tambor left Transparent after the actor was accused of sexual misconduct. Later, creator Jill Soloway confirmed the upcoming fifth season will be the Prime Video TV show’s last.
Now, Soloway has revealed Tambor’s character will die in the final season and the series finale will be a musical:
We were all in mourning in many ways, and we all had to process together. It was important [for the show] to go through all those stages. The show has always been a reflection of who we were, and we were mourning our own narrative.
People say when they’re making musicals that there are moments when the characters have to sing because they can’t put something into words. I think it’s the same thing with what our show went through: We felt like we needed a different way of looking at the family. And we did it through song.”
Amazon has not yet announced a premiere date for the fifth and final season.
‘What do you think? Are you a fan of Transparent? Do you think the series should have ended another way?
Not with a musical. Hate musicals.
