Once Upon a Time will wrap its sixth season later tonight, and it could have been the end of the series completely. However, the series was just renewed for a seventh season. The series will go on without its star. Jennifer Morrison revealed after the last episode that she would not return for a new season as a regular cast member. She will likely only appear in one episode.
The men behind the ABC series, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, spoke about the possibility that the season six finale could be end of the series in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter released before the series’ renewal. They were both ready for the series to end.
Horowitz said the following:
“The way we sort of look at it is, these are stories for these characters, and there are set endpoints to different stories, but, that doesn’t mean there aren’t new stories for different characters. I think that by the end of the season finale, a lot of what we’ve been doing for the last six years is wrapped up — we hope in a very satisfying way — and then we move forward in a way that at the end of it, hopefully you’ll see what we’re hoping to do in season seven.”
Edward Kitsis chimed in with the following:
“We understand that this could be the last year. So we aren’t trying to hope for the best. We feel like we’ve completed this story, and the next chapter of Once Upon a Time will be completely different.”
Will you watch season seven of Once Upon a Time? Tell us what you think.
Yes I am excited to see what the next chapter bring
I’ve watched since day one and even though I cried during the goodbyes, I know you will do season 7 justice. I’ll be sad to see Hook without Emma but I’m sure you’ll give us new characters to love and even grander adventures to follw. Thank you for the last 6 years. Here’s to many more!
