TV show description:
From creator Dave Hemingson, who executive produces with Bill Lawrence, the Whiskey Cavalier TV show is one part screwball comedy, two parts spy drama. The action-adventure centers on FBI Agent Will Chase (Foley), codename: Whiskey Cavalier and CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (Cohan), codename: Fiery Tribune.
The series kicks off with Will still reeling from a breakup Gigi (Valerie Huber). She dumped him when he proposed to her, and since the entire incident was caught on camera, poor Whiskey has to relive it with not just his co-workers and friends, but his rivals and targets, as well.
While on assignment overseas, Whiskey crosses paths with Frankie, and the results are both explosive and captivating — largely because she ignites an explosion in order to cause a diversion and absconds with the target Will is supposed to bring in.
That target is Edgar Standish (Williams), a hacker extraordinaire who, in his work for the NSA, stumbled onto evidence of an enormous conspiracy involving corruption, election theft, and more. Since Edgar is a US citizen, the FBI has dibs on him, but Frankie means to take him to a CIA black-ops site, to get him to reveal the location of all the sensitive files in his possession.
Although both Will and Frankie are tough, seasoned agents, he has an open, tender side, whereas she prefers to stay out of touch with her feelings. Each one bests the other and saves the other at turns.
Sparring over custody of Edgar, Frankie and Will quickly develop a grudging respect for each other’s skills, as well as for Edgar’s determination to uncover the truth about vast government corruption. They’re soon assigned to work together on an inter-agency task force, to save the world.
The team also includes FBI profiler Susan Sampson (Ortiz), CIA gadget guru Jai Datta (Das), and FBI Agent Ray Prince (Hopkins). Together they’ll take on that task of saving the world and they just might save each other, too.
Series Finale:
Episode #13 — Czech Mate
Ollerman attempts to force the team to commit a terrorist attack for The Trust using Ray’s life as leverage. Meanwhile, Jai helps Standish deal with a revelation about Tina, and Will and Frankie come to a realization about their relationship.
First aired: May 22, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Whiskey Cavalier TV series? Should this ABC TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I really enjoyed Whiskey Cavalier and the network had to cancel another good show..It gets very frustrating to start getting into a show and they cancel it.
I used to watch two whole shows on ABC, now I am down to one. Viewers are learning that there is no sense becoming loyal to ABC programming. Whiskey Cavalier was a much needed escape every week and the world certainly needs more of that right now. Classy, exciting and with the times in plots.
Enjoyable show. I’m curious as to what metrics they used to make their decision. From the previous comments, and our own families enjoyment of the show, you have to wonder why they cancel something like this. Oh well. With so much competition nowadays, you’d think they’d listen to their viewers. But I’ll find something else to watch, not likely on ABC. And I hope the actors find other work. I liked most of them in their roles.
I was originally skeptical; but after watching the first show found this show to be hugely entertaining. Great writers and phenomenal character interaction. Please reconsider bringing this show back for another season..
Too bad it was cancelled. It was developing characters nicely and we were looking forward to a second season to see how it would develop further. Certainly quirky but that is OK.
Good show, should have had at least one more season.
I really enjoyed this show, I watched every episode and was hoping to see in next season very sad it was canceled.
ABC is crazy to cancel this show. GREAT show and cast!!!
I really enjoyed this show! It was one of the shows I watched on my DVR during or right after it finished recording, which is rare…really sad it was cancelled. (I am not a person that normally comments on anything, but thought this needed to be said)
One of the better shows on TV! I hope some other, more savvy network picks it up! It’s the kind of show that generates loyal fans!
Loved the show! Looked forward to watching it every week. Hope they might decide to renew it.
I looked forward every week to watching Whiskey Cavalier. I’m very disappointed to see it’s been canceled. I hope something will change that and it will be renewed.
I am a big tv/movie watcher but I dont watch a lot of shows on ABC. In fact I watch Greys Anatomy and Whiskey Cavalier. I have just heard that Whiskey Cavalier has been cancelled. I have so many thoughts about this. I like many things about this show and I would like to share a few. The adult humor in each episode is the best on network TV. The cast blends together naturally. Nothing about this show is stereotypical I love the traveling and the way commonly known songs are incorporated in the appropriate language. Easily one of the… Read more »
I really enjoyed watching Whiskey Cavalier because of the chemistry and bantering with the cast made program I looked forward to watching every week!!!
Please rethink your decision…it was nice watching something that wasn’t police or medical but it would hard going up against the Chicago Three. But I still watched Whiskey Cavalier. Please keep it in your line up!!! Thanks Linda in Visalia Ca.
This was one of the fun shows on TV. It has a great cast with good banter between them with a building story and friendship. My friends all agree, nobody understands the cancelation.
ABC is crazy for cancelling this show! We looked forward to watching it every Wednesday night. The writing was amazing and the humor was engaging. Bring this show back please
