Is all well that ends well? TNT has cancelled its Will TV show after just one season of ten episodes. The decision to cancel the young Shakespeare drama series comes on the heels of last night’s Will season one and unintentional TV series finale episode, “Once, Bright Angel.” The first season of Will premiered on TNT on July 10, 2017.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Will: A Look at the Ratings

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Will TV show? Should TNT have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Sound off, in the comments.
This was a well written, well acted show that did not have the faith or support of its station. I did not think they promoted it well, I don’t think there were commercials declaring it, I don’t think it was given a good time slot. I too recorded it, but then found it all on on demand before it seemed to have aired? It wasn’t even given a chance it seems, but I did enjoy the season for the most part- it was hastily wrapped up. Actors- here’s to you. And may your station hang its head in loss and… Read more »
I agree! I looked forward to coming home from work and watching this series and I am very disappointed not to be able to watch it anymore.

This was one of the best new shows on television. Great, smart writing and an excellent cast! Too smart for TV? What a shame. A real, fresh show was not given the time, nor the marketing of other shows.
I am so disappointed that TNT has cancelled this wonderful series. I was so looking forward to the next season. It was so well written, well acted, well thought out and it was a truly fantastic and innovative take on Shakespeare. Maybe the rating was low because it was shown so late at night (Pacific time was 11PM). I often recorded the program and watched it at a different time. Will was my favorite show on television and I looked forward to each episode. I’m so sad that I won’t be able to see more of this fabulous series. I… Read more »

REALLY liked this show; amusing, in touch with history, cheeky about Shakespeare but worth it, full of vitality in all sorts of ways. Couldn’t always watch it so late at night and lost track of it when it changed days. Laurie D would be a great Francis Crawford of Lymond if they ever film that Dorothy Dunnett historical!
What a disappointment that TNT has cancelled an entirely fresh series that had perhaps the opportunity to introduce Shakespeare (and make it cool) to an younger generation. If TNT doesn’t have the right audience, then I would hope to find new episodes on another network as this show is fantastic. Albeit, there are a ton of anachronisms, but they are woven into the entire fabric of the show with craft and expertise. It is very disappointing to see the networks cave into the lowest common denominator when it comes to programming in favor of the more original series that have… Read more »
How can this be … so disappointing… the show is amazing I’ve never seen anything like this, it just needs to be in a different time … this is DUMB TNT … bring it back….
Bring it back!!!! I loved the show!!! Is TNT stupid? why do all of the shows I love get cancelled? TNT I guess does not know a good show when it sees it
This was a good show that never had a chance, being scheduled for the summer is bad enough but then it got moved to 11 PM. Crappy shows get renewed season after season, and then finally something new and different, and look what happens! Sad, sad state of television shows these days. This is why cable stations and streaming productions are taking over!
TNT should have scheduled Will for the fall in the first place. Summer has too many distractions. I thought it was an excellent show. Just poor advertisement and timing
Too bad this show got cancelled for a second season….it was great fun to watch and the cast was especially good. An opportunity to make Shakespeare accessible to a new audience.
Who ordered the cancellation? Topcliffe?!
A beautiful show.
Thank you.
What a good show it was – so sorry it’s not going to be back. Good acting, storylines, costumes, set designs. What a shame!
I really wanted this show to continue. While it may have taken some liberties with its narrative of Shakespeare’s life and presented Elizabethan England as more of an exuberant Renaissance Fair than anything an historian might certify as accurate, still in its exuberance it may have captured both the ribald and the glamorous natures of theatre as 16th Century participants might have felt it. There is something to be said for its nontraditional take on the “Period Drama”, and I am surprised and disappointed to hear that it did not catch o with TNT’s audience.
I STRONGLY agree with all of the disappointed fans commenting on this platform and in this forum about the cancellation of Will. It’s SOOOO well done and there is absolutely nothing else out there on tv that’s this this well done, of this quality and substance, this imaginative and this educational and entertaining all in one once weekly program. I watched every episode every week and could barely wait each week for new episodes – waited with baited breath and was spreading the word about the greatness of this show to all of my co-workers and friends at the hospital… Read more »
