The end is near for Michael Desiato. Showtime has confirmed that Your Honor will indeed end next Sunday so, there won’t be a second season. See update.
The Your Honor TV series stars Bryan Cranston, Hunter Doohan, Michael Stuhlbarg, Hope Davis, Carmen Ejogo, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Sofia Black-D’Elia, with guests Maura Tierney, Amy Landecker, Margo Martindale, Lorraine Toussaint, Chet Hanks, Lamar Johnson, and Lilli Kay. In the story, Michael Desiato (Cranston) is a highly-respected New Orleans judge whose personal and professional lives are turned upside down when his teenage son, Adam (Doohan), is involved in a hit-and-run. This leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit, and impossible choices for both of them. Meanwhile, Jimmy Baxter (Stuhlbarg) is the much-feared head of a crime family and the husband of Gina (Davis), who might be even more dangerous than her husband.
The first season of Your Honor averages a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 573,000 viewers. The series has done well for Showtime and, though it got off to a slow start in the traditional ratings (the premiere was released online early), Your Honor has shown some significant growth over the course of the season.
The cable channel promoted Your Honor as a “limited series” which, these days, can indicate one or two things — that the story will be close-ended (ala a mini-series) or, that a season will have a limited number of episodes and could return for another season (ala How to Get Away with Murder and The Following). As Kaley Cuoco said, ahead of the launch of The Flight Attendant limited series on HBO Max, “Hey, everything’s a limited series. If you don’t get picked up, you go, ‘Oh, that was just a limited series.’ If you do get picked up, you’re like, ‘Yeah, f*** that. We’re doing season two!'”
In this case, it appears that Showtime intends to keep Your Honor as a one-and-done series. A recent press release notes that episode 10 is the end.
The ninth episode will air Sunday, February 7th at 10pm. The following Sunday, on February 14th at 10pm, the series concludes with the finale, directed by series star and executive producer Bryan Cranston.
The show’s story seems to be headed toward a definite series finale but, if that doesn’t happen, perhaps the creative team could be persuaded to return for another season.
What do you think? Have you enjoyed the Your Honor TV series? Would you watch a second season on Showtime or, should episode 10 be the end?
I hate this show. I will watch the finale just to see how it ends. Glad it’s over.
At first, I thought it was kind of slow or boring but I kept watching and began to enjoy the meaning of the story plus I like court cases and this one made me very curious as to how the Judge was going to handle this case and get out of it. I’m sure if there was a 2nd season that it would have to be a whole new story. Maybe Not. A continuous will be fine as well. Curiosity is the thing that keeps a court case interesting…
My 6yr old and I are addicted to the show. My daughter is 6 and knows ALL the characters. This is our movie night. OMG, please don’t take it off! Too many EXCELLENT storylines to end it next week!! The teacher is jealous. The mob daughter is creepy. Gina is really the mobb boss. Carlo, we hate him We love Jango. Grandma is nosey and Charlie Figaro, a true crooked politician like Trump. To soon to END!
A really great show.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️It don’t get any better than Your Honor! A sure thing!! Why wouldn’t you do Season two?
This is our favourite show to watch each week. We need another season.
Boy I really enjoyed watching…I don’t understand why they do that..Finally get something good to watch and they pull it…STOP IT!!!!!
I would love love to see season 2.
Make sure it’s a good ending and not a cliff hanger
At the end of episode 9 they aired some additional info on the end. Sounds like it’s going to be a shocker and wrap it up.
Please second season!! Love this show ❤️
Smart people making endless bonehead decisions makes this show hard to watch. The courtroom scenes are utter ridiculous starting at E01. What judge conducts his own trial investigation by running to the house, gets off the bench and reenacts a scene in the well, questions people in the courtroom audience, has a cop admit to perjuring himself on the stand, and act as if he’s the defense attorney all before lunch time. Last episode, he was on his hands and knees putting murder shoes (that for some bonehead reason he kept possession of) on the feet of a drug addict.… Read more »
I commented on this dreck after maybe its second or third episode. It was ridiculous, melodramatic nonsense, poorly acted, even by the usually excellent Cranston and the always beyond excellent Margo Martindale. I blame the script, which should’ve been crumpled up and unceremoniously returned to the middle schooler who’d coughed it up. It is absurd. Almost as absurd as what passes for angst-ridden acting by Doohan, whom I’d not heard of before and, after this, may not hear from again. I’ve stayed with the thankfully “limited series” because of its train wreck quality and because I’m a New Orleans ex-pat… Read more »
Great show however the meetings in public places between the judge and the crime boss during the trial seem ridiculous from an obvious security reason.
So u ask what I think? I think this sucks!!! I want more please!!!!!
Please, please don’t end this show.
First thing Bryan Cranston was who drew me to watch the show. The storyline keeps me on the edge of my seat which is what I look for in a show. Now my adult grandchildren are watching it. Please continue the series.
Kudos to the producers.
NOOOOOOO!!!! This show is not only really, really good (great script and acting across the board!) but has so so much potential to get so good that it becomes addictive and explodes in popularity. I may be wrong about this but I’d guess it’s short run has to do with lack of marketing more than anything else. Just a hunch. RECONSIDER AND BRING ON A MUCH NEEDED SEASON TWO AND WATCH MORE AND MORE PEOPLE TUNE IN WEEKLY!
