Last season, CBS introduced only seven new shows during the regular season. They cancelled three, renewed three, and one (Supergirl) moved to The CW. How will their new programming do in the ratings this time around? Stay tuned.
CBS shows this season (so far): 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 48 Hours: NCIS, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Rice, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Blue Bloods, Bull, Candy Crush, The Case Of, CBSN: On Assignment, Code Black, Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Doubt, Elementary, The Great Indoors, Hawaii Five-0, Hunted, Kevin Can Wait, Life in Pieces, MacGyver, Madam Secretary, Man with a Plan, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, The Odd Couple, Pure Genius, Ransom, Salvation, Scorpion, Superior Donuts, Survivor, Training Day, Undercover Boss and Zoo.
There’s lots of data that CBS execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing so far.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
Kevin can wait was actually good with the original wife in it. Not a Kevin James fan so much but the rest of the casted family was very enjoyable. Mom is losing me as Bonnie is just a little to gross anymore and earlier stories with the family and more of the AA group girls much funnier. Like the new boyfriend on the show good add, but the ex husband and his new wife were funny and all the others made a great ensemble. Elementary, very good show, always something different week to week, not the same old type of… Read more »
Please bring a season 4! The show is amazing and shouldn’t end like that. Don’t let a good show go to waste please I love the show!
2 combroke girls was awesome and had higher ratings than alot of renewed programming ,like 48 hours where they doubled tge ratings from them.no fair.BRING BACK 2BROKE GIRLS.was my favorite sitcom.Plus its popular in syndication.cancel your fake reality peofrans line survivor or u der cover boss.
Would someone wake up and cancel kevin can wait. James is so the same over and over. He is no longer funny. The show stinks.
I really really like salvation it’s literally my FAVOURITE show I hope it gets renewed
Salvation is the best show right now..can’t wait for a second season
Salvation!!! why did it end like that? I really like it, the asteroid, drama, and the cast!!(please don’t change the cast) is so perfect!!. why? I hope there’s season 2. if renewed please don’t make it bad (honestly, I really like the season 1, and PLEASE DONT CHANGE ANY OF THE CAST!)
Salvation!!! why did it end like that? i really like it, the asteriod, drama, and tha cast!! is so perfect!!. why? i hope theres season 2.
I don’t think shows should be rated by age since its a person’s personality that determines what they like to watch. Since the older group spends more time watching tv, it seems to me that our opinion should matter most. I sure hope SALVATION gets renewed. It’s exciting, action mixed with drama and love the cast. Great tv show.
Agree with Criminal Minds BB, did not watch Ransom. Loved Man with a Plan and absolutely hated Kevin can Wait. I do not understand how that show rated higher than Man with a Plan. Kevin James is way overrated,,,,, The show is a glorified Three’s Company!!!
Please renew criminal minds beyond borders! It was a great show. It was very interesting and you learned a lot about other countries!!!!
Please renew Salvation! It is terrific! Look at some different demographics such as 50 to 60. We have money too.
Please renewed the mist, Zoo, Suits so good this summer also running wild with Bear Grylls need to be continue want more seasons please.
Really hope that there’s a season for Salvation! Couldn’t wait to see the next episode each week.
Salvation. It’s great. Engaging, exciting, thought provoking. What’s up with ppl, watching big brother. Seriously?
I totally agree. I love Salvation.
I absolutely love Zoo, from season 1 to season 3 it has just got better and better. Most shows you can see what’s coming but this has so many twists and turns it keeps me glued from week to week. Please re-new this as it is so different to the mundane crap which you seem to keep on, I certainly will stop watching if this is cancelled, it is the one show which makes me turn your channel on.
