Why didn’t BH90210 work out? Recently, FOX chief Michael Thorn spoke with TVLine about the TV show’s cancellation.
The Beverly Hills 90210 reunion series followed the original cast as they “play highly fictionalized versions of themselves reuniting to reboot the original series.” Returning stars included Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling.
Speaking to TVLine, Thorn revealed that FOX decided to keep BH90210 as a one-time event series:
To sustain something that meta and heightened in the long-term is incredibly hard. We always kind of envisioned it as an event… So we felt like to do it as a short-term event where you could just catch up with these actors that you love and do something that was wildly different was a great way to honor the legacy of the show.”
Additionally, ratings for BH90210 were not great. Overall, the series averaged a .89 rating in the 18-49 and 2.505 million viewers.

Thought it was good to bring g it back ,really disappointed it wasnt renewed! It seems they get rid of the ones they should keep and keep the ones that arent with watching again! BRING BACK BEVERLY HILLS 90210!!!

Love 90210, I wanted the same cast same show that is what most fans wanted I was so excited when I heard they were doing a Reboot then very disappointed.please bring back a Reboot of how it used to be.
Yes I would of watched a second season. I loved watching it when it first came out and zi was excited to hear anout the reboot. I did watch the reboot and loved it. I’m saddened to hear there won’t be be a second season. It was a good clean show. I would love to hear that they had a change of heart and will be doing a second season of the BH90210 Reboot. Because it was stupid, enough with the reboots, give us something original and good. Or at least a reboot that’s actually good like Rescue Me.
So disappointed
The reality aspect of it was dumb.
I wanted the original format.
What a wasted opportunity.
I was hoping for another season of BH 90210 I really enjoyed the reboot.
Since Fox didn’t want to pick them up I was hoping that somebody else would.
I think it would have been a box office smash if they would have just did a reboot of the characters they played and not “heightened versions of themselves “ NOBODY understands the concept. The fans were let down and wanted David Silver and Donna Martin-Silver. Reunion show. Like they did for Sex and the City movies after series finale. It’s Carrie writing. Yes! Fox exec’s need to keep BH90210! What an idiotic decision they made! I mean really? Who’s in charge there? Need to rethink BH90210!
I loved the old 90210 when I was a teenager…when the new series reboot came out I watched all.of them in one night
I hoped like crazy they would do another series. I loved the new series. I liked the idea of show. Off screen life mixed with the characters life.was great. This is the only tv series I have watched in years. I gave up watching any tv until the new 90210 came out.
I loved seeing them all back together again but I didn’t like the concept of the reboot they had done. I think an original reboot would have worked better for them! Loved the original Beverly Hills 90210!
