Although its audience skews older and doesn’t rack up the most impressive demo ratings for CBS, the Blue Bloods TV show remains a top performer in terms of total viewership. Still, every story has its end, and as the years pass, a show’s budget naturally increases to the point where a network can’t get enough bang for its buck. Is that time at hand? Will Blue Bloods be cancelled or renewed for season nine on the Tiffany Network? Stay tuned.
A CBS family drama, Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Sami Gayle, and Vanessa Ray. The police procedural centers on the Irish-American Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Selleck) leads both the police force and his brood.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The seventh season of Blue Bloods averaged a 1.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.944 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Blue Bloods TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season on CBS?
4/18/18 update: CBS has renewed Blue Bloods for a ninth season. Details here.
I like the show please another season. For the fans in AA can their be less alcoholic drinks maybe they can drink tea?
I agree with Marlene. I think this is the best show on television.
As a Blue Bloods fan from Day One, I hope that this amazing series will return for many more seasons. Yes, I am a (Bronx) Irish person whose family members past and present have served/currently serve as NYC police officers. This show is an intelligent, thought-provoking, poignant and downright brilliant representation of the responsibilities, as well as the trials and tribulations of the NYC police officer. As an added bonus, viewers also get the opportunity to observe the family dynamic at the Reagan family’s Sunday dinner table—-my favorite part of every episode. There is much to be gained from watching… Read more »
Renew blue bloods I love this show.
For our family to continue watching, writers have to deal with Danny’s explosive behavior and fickle personality, the latter of which can swing from caring to abusive. Jamie and Jenko need to change partners and start dating to see if there is a personal relationship. Writers have shown Frank to grow personally, they need to duplicate that for the rest of the cast.
Yes renew bring on season 9 and a romance between Jamie and Eddie would have high ratings!
Please renew. Blue Bloods is an interesting family bonding experience.
Keep blue bloods
Good story line
Great characters
Family values!!!!!!
I want it to be renewed for another season!

Please renew. A wholesome TV show, best actors and story line. I continue to watch over and over and enjoy it each time. Don’t cancel a great thing! Keep prayers in the show, family as a priority, and dedication to each other . Truly a great show!!!!
My wife and I both love Blue Bloods. You just don’t have much to watch anymore, but this show is it for us. May it have many more years to come.
I love blue bloods. Best show. Please don’t cancel
This is one of my all time favorite shows. Please keep BLUE BLOODS on as long as possible. Love the characters, love the stories, love the actors. It’s one of the few shows on TV that isn’t overly violent but is good drama. It’s hard to beat BLUE BLOODS. Most shows today are not even close.
Still love Blue Bloods and look forward to it each week. CBS is cutting off its own nose with this one week on, two weeks off nonsense. Less is not more when it comes to the shows we enjoy.
I do agree that taking Linda off the show in that underhanded manner was a terrible choice. And every person I know who also likes the show and watches it regularly – more people like this than any other show I watch – especially like the family dinners.
