Although its ratings fell yet again last year, the Bob’s Burgers TV show wasn’t cancelled. It was safe, largely because it was already renewed through season eight, but also because so many more expensive FOX comedies and dramas earned even worse numbers. This year, fans don’t have the luxury of knowing its status at the start of the eighth season. Will Bob’s Burgers be cancelled or renewed for season nine? We’ll have to wait and see, so stay tuned.
An animated FOX comedy, Bob’s Burgers centers on Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin). This third generation restaurateur operates Bob’s Burgers with the help of his charming and musical wife, Linda (John Roberts). The couple’s three kids pitch in, too. The awkward Tina (Dan Mintz) is their eldest daughter. Middle child, Gene (Eugene Mirman) is whimsical, if a bit goofy. The clever and even cunning Louise (Kristen Schaal) is their youngest. While Bob has big ideas about burgers, his location is lacking. Meanwhile, the rest of the clan falls short on service. **Status update, below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/21 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The seventh season of Bob’s Burgers averaged a 0.94 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.103 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Bob’s Burgers TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season on FOX?
**3/28/2018 update: Bob’s Burgers has been renewed for season nine on FOX. Details here.
I love Bob’s Burgers!!!! It’s an amazing show and it’s actually hilarious!! Fox, PLEASE don’t take this show away from the people who love it!!! Keep it going!!! If Family Guy can make it as long as they have, so can Bob’s Burgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Bobs Burgers Its the best show on TV hopefully its on for many years to come. But they don’t go on ratings as much these days, they Track our O-Demand selections and what we watch Streaming and DVR so Nielson Ratings Is a dead concept anymore.
I used to love Bob’s Burgers, but the utter lack of consistency — to a ridiculous level of now taking WHOLE MONTHS off between episodes (the proof is right there in the air dates) — has driven me near apathy. The ratings drop makes all the sense in the world, which is sad, considering it’s otherwise a really solid and edgy, family-friendly show. I would be severely skeptical about profiting from a feature-length movie if they don’t start pulling it together and maintaining consistency, here onward.
I love bobs burgers best show ever hope they never stop making them it’s halarious
I adore Bob’s burgers! Very relatable! (I even work in a fast casual burger joint and am very much like Linda! From her fun craziness, so singing everything to her “all right” to he love for her children! Everything about the show is just fantastic! I watch a lot of adult cartoons! This is one of my all time favorites!
Probably would get better numbers if they showed it consistently… Not having Valentines day episodes in early January, thus me thinking- eh probably wont get a new ep until AFTER valentines day. Pisses me off. Cause my husband, daughter and I enjoy this show. And cant watch new episodes because of reasons? >.<
I love Bob’s burgers. as an adult but I love Bob’s burgers.
We’ve watched Bob’s Burgers without fail since the day it first aired. It is (to me) the most entertaining animated show hands down! The only thing about it that we DON’T like, is when it’s NOT on to watch Sunday night. We can even feel comfortable watching it with our teenage daughter. Unlike Southpark and Family Guy, (still both good adult only shows) Bob’s Burgers doesn’t go too far. A perfectly silly, wacky and quirky animated sit-com. As long as they keep up writing as well as they have so far, we feel it deserves to go on and on… Read more »
If they STOP putting it on every so often, maybe the ratings would be higher!
I don’t quite understand what you mean. You should clarify.
What Duane means is if they stopped airing new episodes every blue moon, the ratings would climb. I don’t think it’s cool how the Bleakening episode aired on Dec. 10 of 2017 and a new episode didn’t air until a WHOLE month later on Jan. 14. Now, we can’t expect to see the next new episode until MARCH 11th!? That is absolute bullcrap! That’s why show ratings plummet! This is a popular show that they treat like crap. I honestly prefer it over Family Guy but they wouldn’t DARE air Family Guy the way they do Bob’s Burgers or Seth… Read more »
Remember, the season goes from September – May, minus the two week hiatus in December. You need x amount of content to get you through the season, hence why Networks have specials, re runs and ” super sized episodes. “
Bobs burgers is life. Everyone I know from teenage to my age (41) watches.
Bob’s burgers is my favorite show! It’s relatable and always puts a smile on my face. I’d be absolutely DEVASTATED if it was canceled. Keep it for sure!!!
I love Bob’s burgers. I don’t like many animated shows as an adult but I love Bob’s burgers. You can relate with every character in some way and it’s hilarious. I’d be sad to see it go.
I love Bob’s Burgers, and I will and do watch every episode multiple times. Keep making them…..I keep watching. Not actively watching any other show on this network except Bob. Not rocket science…. keep it.
