Bosch is getting ready for its big finish on Amazon Prime Video. Season six of the detective drama arrived last April, and production on the seventh and final season will end later this week. A premiere date for season seven has not yet been set.
Based on the books by Michael Connelly, the Prime Video series follows Harry Bosch, a detective for the LAPD in the Hollywood homicide division. Titus Welliver, Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Madison Lintz, and Lance Reddick star.
Connelly spoke about ending Bosch in an interview with The Tampa Bay Times. He said the following:
“I keep using the word ‘bittersweet.’ It’s like a family. The cast hasn’t changed. We still have about 85 percent of the original crew. Creatively, we’re going out at a good time. We knew it was going to be the last season, so we could write an ending. I feel like we made a story, a 68-hour story that will hold up over time. I’m proud, but it’s going to be a tough day.”
Could Bosch return someday? Connelly says, “Never say never.”
There’s also a possibility that the character of LAPD Detective Renée Ballard, a significant character in Connelly’s novels who hasn’t appeared in the Bosch TV series, could get her own show. The author said, “I’ve always said that. But I’m turning 65, and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be plugging away in Hollywood. It’s such a thrill to see these characters come to life on the screen. I used to be mercenary about Renée — she’s a valuable property. But we’ll see.”
Next up for Connelly is The Lincoln Lawyer – another series based on his work. Netflix has picked up the series, which was originally planned for CBS.
What do you think? Are you excited for the return of the Bosch TV show on Amazon? Are you going to be sad when the series ends?
I have read every one of the Bosch books and have thoroughly enjoyed them! It wasn’t until spring of last year (2020) when I discovered the Bosch series on Amazon Prime. I was thrilled! I watched the entire 6 seasons in less than 2 months. I was addicted! The casting is superb and I can’t imagine anyone more perfect in the role of Bosch than Titus Welliver! The entire cast is Amazing! I’m so looking forward to Season 7 but it’s going to be a sad day watching the final episode of the final season. Meanwhile, I am now watching… Read more »
Have read all of Mr. Connelly’s novels and have loved every one. Mr. Connelly is an awesome writer and was very entertained on all 6 seasons so far. Can’t wait for 7. I think the Renee Ballard would be a great follow up to Harry.
I think Bosch is an awesome series. I will be very sad for it to be over. I cannot wait for season seven looking forward to it.

Yes I cannot wait!!!
Thank you !
I’ve not read a single Connelly book so my first exposure to Harry Bosch is via this series on Amazon Prime. I am curious from those of you who have read the books if you think Titus Welliver is portraying the character accurately. I find Harry Bosch very one dimensional. He rarely expresses any real emotion. For example, I am watching Season 4. I am puzzled by his lack emotion over the death of his former wife who evidently was the one that got away. And his monotone interaction all along with Maddie is equally confounding. That character is also… Read more »
I think he does a good job in taking the book character and adapting to TV.
The books have many differences such as Bosch is a Vet but from the Vietnam Era. In the books Maddie is a young girl, not a teenager. I have read all the books and watched all of the Amazon shows. There are a lot of differences but all are entertaining. I would like to see more seasons but it has been a good run.
Maddie is a teen when she moves in with Bosch. He didn’t even know about her.
Titus is Harry personified! Perfect. Get reading, because there isn’t a single Connelly book not worth reading!
Love Bosch!! Do not want this to be final season. Want to see him mature into forever relationship and see where Maddie goes in her career. do not end my fantasy please!!!
Can’t wait…wish it would continue
Bosch is by far my most favorite show on Prime and quite frankly my top cop show of all time. I am sad to see it go, but its better to go while still great than watch it fade and become a shell of itself like some of the long running shows on the networks. Unless there is a rights issue, I see no reason why the character, played by Titus, cant show up on Lincoln Lawyer given the connections between Mickey and Bosch.
I was a big fan of Harry Bosch long before it became a TV series and watching it for six seasons has only cemented the memory. I will for sure miss when the show ends
Bosch should go on forever
Have so enjoyed wonderful BOSH, what a great series so well put together and the characters have come together with the intertwined stories. Will miss them all when it comes to an end. Thankyou Michael Connelly for these stories and the books.
Why end a good series. I have watched it from the first episode and dread the ending of the series.
I absolutely loved this series, and the books sad to see it go !!
Connelly is brilliant. His decision makes complete sense. Looking forward to Lincoln Lawyer. Hopefully they will guest star Bosch cast members in their roles and then on to a Renee Ballard. 65 is early senior status, Michael. You’ve got plenty of years left and you can also turn the reins over to young writers. Much like the British writer Colin Dexter did for Morse.
I have watched every season. Love, love, love the show. Hate to see it go, but can’t wait to watch the final season.
