Bosch is getting ready for its big finish on Amazon Prime Video. Season six of the detective drama arrived last April, and production on the seventh and final season will end later this week. A premiere date for season seven has not yet been set.
Based on the books by Michael Connelly, the Prime Video series follows Harry Bosch, a detective for the LAPD in the Hollywood homicide division. Titus Welliver, Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Madison Lintz, and Lance Reddick star.
Connelly spoke about ending Bosch in an interview with The Tampa Bay Times. He said the following:
“I keep using the word ‘bittersweet.’ It’s like a family. The cast hasn’t changed. We still have about 85 percent of the original crew. Creatively, we’re going out at a good time. We knew it was going to be the last season, so we could write an ending. I feel like we made a story, a 68-hour story that will hold up over time. I’m proud, but it’s going to be a tough day.”
Could Bosch return someday? Connelly says, “Never say never.”
There’s also a possibility that the character of LAPD Detective Renée Ballard, a significant character in Connelly’s novels who hasn’t appeared in the Bosch TV series, could get her own show. The author said, “I’ve always said that. But I’m turning 65, and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be plugging away in Hollywood. It’s such a thrill to see these characters come to life on the screen. I used to be mercenary about Renée — she’s a valuable property. But we’ll see.”
Next up for Connelly is The Lincoln Lawyer – another series based on his work. Netflix has picked up the series, which was originally planned for CBS.
What do you think? Are you excited for the return of the Bosch TV show on Amazon? Are you going to be sad when the series ends?
It is a great cast with excellent acting. Let’s face it Titus is no Dirty Harry but Dirty Harry would be in jail by todays standards. I will miss the show but the books on Audible are better.
Agree. The time period in the books was 1970’s, Dirty Harry could play the role! Welliver has done a great job, very convincing.
I loved the series and the novels. I hope to see Renee’ Ballard and look forward to the Lincoln Lawyer.
I like the show very much and will be sad to see it end. Maybe Netflix will pick it up or remain on Amazon but please don’t kill this excellent show.
I dreaded the day this would come but I’m a realist. One of the best series ever! I think I have read all of Michael Connelly’s books and always look forward to the next one. I guess all good things come to an end.
It’s a good show, made with a good solid cast, and they’ve kept that family of characters strong in the long run. Welliver was a good Bosch. I will be sad to see it go after the last episode.
Wonderful series! All the actors on the show are a perfect match for the characters in Michael Connelly’s books. Hate to see the series come to an end!
Yes, very sad!
When, WHEN????? When does the next season start? If they had held it to one book per season instead of mashing them up, we could have more Bosch.
I have watched Bosch from the beginning, a real story with soul and action.. It will be a sad day when this world is closed….
This is a great series, my husband and I read all the books, will be sad when the series is concluded, this is smart TV…..
Seems a lifetime of waiting for last series. It is bittersweet. Wish it could continue on and on. Will ease some of this lockdown tension. Anxious for release date. LOVE you Bosch cast and crew!
Very anxious for the return of show. Wish it wasn’t ending.
Such great books n tv program … love the idea of a book a season with a ‘finished’ up ending . IT WILL BE MISSED..GREAT MYSTERY GENRE.
I’ve loved Harry Bosch since the beginning…will be super sad, but excited about other characters’ being showcased, and who knows? there are always cameos!! Hey, Michael Connelly, I’m the same age as you and have no intention of slowing down!
So not looking forward to the series ending. I have enjoyed each season and have my 90 year old mother hooked! She to is sad to see it go as she feels there is nothing good on television any more. This series she loved.
All good things come to an end, it’s just to bad it has to be Bosch.
Do not allow Bosch to end; it is both thrilling and challenging!
