Well, that didn’t take long. One day after Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled by FOX, the cop comedy series has been picked up for a sixth season on NBC.
A police procedural comedy from creators Dan Goor and Michael Schur, Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, Joel McKinnon Miller, and Dirk Blocker. The sitcom follows Detective Jake Peralta (Samberg) and the rest of the unique detectives and officers at the NYPD’s 99th Precinct.
Series co-creator Dan Goor announced the pick up this evening on Twitter and others followed.

This happened because the fans of the show went berzerk. We can't thank you — or @NBC — enough. #Brooklyn99

Financially, it seems that the pickup makes sense. Universal Television co-produces the series and NBCUniversal Television Distribution distributes. NBC released the following statement:
“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
What do you think? Are you glad that Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been picked up for a sixth season? Do you think the ratings will rise on NBC?
One of the few comedies that is actually funny. Like Last Man on Earth but someone decided to cancel that…
Welcome home to NBC! So thrilled this is my favorite show! I have seen every last episode. “Toight”
The NBC rules!!! Seriously, in the words of Gian Lineeti, they are truly, “The human form of the 100 emoji”!! Thank you guys so much!

waste of money, the show was drawing less than 2 million per episode. why nbc picked it up leaves questions. if there hoping for syndication as a reason to pick it up, good luck.
looks like it bombed on TBS, since its only being played late night.
That is quite rude you know. The actors, writers, directors and those behind the scenes work very hard to make the show a reality. They have to put up with enough without you piling on what with critics and all. FYI, it is played late at night because it has adult situations and is extremely hilarious so rather than attack them, say nothing at all. It is your opinion and like good wine, it is amazing, refined and pulls in people who can appreciate something good when they see it. If the fans love it (the real audience) then that… Read more »
Yay!!! Thank you NBC! This doesn’t make up for you canceling Rise by any means but I’m happy the Nine-Nine gets another shot.
Yeah !!! Went to sleep last night totally bummed about B-99…. woke up
To this fantastic news! Go 99 ! Can’t wait for Jake and Amy’s wedding
Then season 6 !
The only bummer is that it’s just 13 episodes, which means it’s probably a mid season replacement show. Oh well, better than zero episodes, I guess. 🙂
what is a mid season replacement show
Renewed only for 13 episodes instead of a full season, so even NBC is being a little precocious. Usually, I’d say that it’s now up to the producers and writers to pick up to challenge and prove that the show is worth it but I consider the last season the best one yet so I got nothing…
Amazing news!
Wow!!! Finally some good news tonight!! After 9 shows that I really like on a variety of the alphabet networks abc nbc cbs Fox…
Someone had the balls to pickup a show that another stupid network decided to toss by the wayside.
Thank you NBC!
NBC is just another stupid network is not any better
