After co-starring on NCIS for 13 seasons, Michael Weatherly has his own CBS TV show on Tuesday nights, Bull. Has Weatherly gone from one hit to another or is Bull a flop? Cancel or keep it?
Inspired by the early career of Doctor Phil McGraw, the Bull TV show revolves around the brash and charming Doctor Jason Bull (Weatherly). He combines psychology, human intuition, and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick. His team members are played by Freddy Rodriguez, Geneva Carr, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Annabelle Attanasio, and Christopher Jackson.
Premiering on September 20th, Bull launched to an average of a 2.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 15.56 million viewers. It was a very positive start in the ratings, no doubt in part because CBS gave it a very compatible timeslot — sandwiched between NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans.
In week two, the numbers saw a drop of more than 12%, falling to a 1.89 in the demo with 13.61 million. They dropped again in week three and the ratings have fallen nearly every episode after that. The last new episode of 2016 averaged a 1.44 in the demo with 11.61 million.
While Bull’s numbers are still positive, it is concerning that they keep dropping lower and lower. If the ratings keep falling, CBS could potentially cancel Bull but that hardly seems likely.
The network needs new shows and Bull is perfectly tailored for the CBS schedule. At this point, I suspect they’ll renew it for a second season but may ask for some tinkering behind-the-scenes to try to attract more viewers (ala season two of Code Black).
But, what do you think? Do you like the Bull TV show on CBS? Is it worth watching? Cancel or keep it?
Cancel
Cancel. Very unrealistic the clothes females wear. Impossible to walk or sit.
I watched Bull for the first and last time tonight. I am a NCIS fan and liked the Tony character. Bull is smug Rich jerk of a character Uber smart but shallow. The attorney is much shorter and alittle inept to make bull look more viable. The other characters are one dimensional. I’m switching the channel after NCIS
Cancel ,they should call it bullsh*t. He so smug ,and has this creepy coolness about him. I was a fan of Tony on ncis but have not watched bull until tonight. My inklings about the show was correct. It sucks , if he could be any more ful of it I’d be surprised. The big black dude with extra stylish clothes, and the attorney who 2 feet shorter then bull(makes bull appear more dominant,) bull manipulates the jurys and the viewers. Yuk!
I like the show very much. The key is people we can root for and every wee now, we have them. Renew this one.
Keep it. It’s truly entertaining. I like all the characters on the show.
I didn’t like Bull from the start, I tried watching it again last evening, but it’s boring. Perhaps because it’s complicated and nothing exciting.
He should have never left NCIS, his character was so charismatic. It’s hard to watch the show without him. The new actors don’t compare
I miss Tony Dinozzo
We watched the show for quite a few week weeks. It was initially an interesting concept, but we feel that has become rather repetitive. There is really no compelling reason to continue watching the show, so we have stopped tuning in after “NCIS” on Tuesdays.
Yes, Bull, and NCIS, Ransom, Madam Secretary, and MacGyver are my favorite shows. Please keep them
I absolutely love Michael and actually dated a man who could be his twin in 2002 in Wixom, Michigan. I loved him on NCIS but thought he could do so much better and had such great potential, BUT, Bull is so deep and serious and for pure entertainment it’s just not keeping me. I need to relax, not think hard. I think Michael would be great in an action film with more action and some violence and would have been great as President in Designated Survivor. Am not voting, but hope he stays on air and wish him the very… Read more »
I like it. It’s a different twist on your typical legal drama.
It should be renewed. It’s easy and funny.
I think Bull is a very good show. Keep it.
Keep Bull!! It is a good insight into what is going on in the real world. It is an interesting show and keeps you guessing at the outcome. Win Some Lose Some!
this show is SOOOOO BASIC SIMPLE FORMULAIC like it is written by 5 year olds. couldn;t handle more than 2 eps. oh and does he “win”every case through ILLEGAL hacking?
