Charmed, which recently celebrated a milestone as being the longest-running show featuring all female leads, may be headed for a big finish. Last year, it looked like the WB’s long-running show about beautiful witches was going to be cancelled but the series was given a new season order at the last minute. This year, with the contracts of the female leads (Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan and Kaley Cuoco) and executive producer Brad Kern expiring, it looks doubtful there will be a ninth season.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Kern said, “Nobody at WB will commit one way or the other. I’ve heard nothing about it. As far as I’m concerned, this is it. Last year the show was held in limbo, but fortunately ‘the governor called’ and we got another year. I wasn’t able to craft a season or series finale [then], so I did sort of a hybrid, which to me was disappointing creatively. ”
He continued, “This year, with no contract for the girls and no contract for me, the WB seems to be looking forward to looking for ‘the next generation’ of shows. We’re still an expensive show, and all those factors tell me that, here in the middle of January, I’m just pushing toward the series finale. It’s too late for them to say, ‘We want to find a way to make a ninth season’ — but it doesn’t mean there can’t be a spin-off.”
Kern went on to say that, in an ideal world, he would bring back many of the past cast members for an appearance. But, with budgetary issues having taken center stage this year (hence the reduced appearances of Brian Krause’s Leo character), it seems doubtful that you’ll see the return of Shannon Doherty’s Prue or Julian McMahon’s Cole.
Still, Kern has other magical surprises in store for fans saying, “The huge problem I have to deal with this year is the budget cutback. I’m trying to save money each episode so I can afford to bring back as many of the regular cast members as possible. Who that will be, I don’t know, but my plan is to have the equivalent of a ‘family reunion’ including as many people as I can afford.” In addition, Kern didn’t rule out the possibility of creatively used flashbacks. 
Hey Mike I hope that rumor is true because as someone previously stated there is so many different avenues that Brad and his executives can take if only someone else pick up the ninth season. Please someone don’t let a good thing go to waste. I will keep my eyes and ears open. Wendy

Now I am not sure how true this is, but I ran across a comment the other day that since the beginning of February, NBC has picked up Charmed for a Ninth season. Like I said I don’t know how true this is. It could just be a nasty rumor to get our hopes up. So if anyone heres anything please let us all know.
This comment is for Jen, Wow you are so lucky to have met PIPER. I wish that I could meet her or all of them. Jen I am very close to the age of forty and my five year old and I love charmed. I really hate that Prue may have felt that the show is for twelve year olds but I disagree. I still love you PRUE. I wish you would make just one last appearance on Forever Charmed.
Brad Kern has one comment that may give us all hope. A SPIN OFF! Remember that Wyatt Halliwell is suppose to be one of the most powerful beings walking the earth. I am so mad they cancelled the show, i have the spells from the B.O.S and from every season.Piper is the greatest,I met her about 2 months ago. She is so down to earth and much like her character.I may have misspelled sorry !
I cant believe your are really thinking about cancelling this show. This has got to be the best show WB ever put on the air. In the first stages I was a bit iffy about watching it, then boom all of a sudden I turned into a big Charmed fan. I don’t know what you have to do to get another season and contract but please try hard. I am collecting the series as well. They can’t take away my only fav show. I’m really sad to know that Charmed will be ended. I like this show very much. I cannot imagine how my life will be without it. I will pray for it. We can find money but happiness is hard to get. Please make everyone dreams here becomes true. By the way congratulations for this most interesting Tv show I’ve ever watch. I’m cannot believe this terrible thing gonna happen.
If or when the show does end I really hope they don’t kill off any of the sisters. That way they can leave the door open for a reunion show or even a spin off with Wyatt, Chris and other off springs of the sisters. There is still a whole lot of stories to be told concerning the Halliwell family and their future. I watch charmed 2hours every morning and 2 hours every afternoon. I watch the new episodes on sundays too. I love the show!!!! I was hoping that the show wouldn’t be cancelled. Piper is my favorite of the three. She is like a super mom or something. She always has time to kick evil butt and then come home and spend time with her kids. I love it!!!!!!!
Here’s hoping another yr with the “Charmed Ones” can be done. What with all the bad in the real world, this show makes you think about “the greater good” everywhere. I’ve even started to buy the charms and wicca jewlery i can find time to hunt for. Please make a ninth season it is the best show on tv i love it.I will buy all the seasons on dvd.I already have seasons 1-5 please come back for another year.
I wish that prue would make guest appearances on the show just like gramps and mom. It just breaks my heart that the show must come to an end. This show is like the average person’s “ALL MY CHILDREN” back in the day. I can’t imagine life without the CHARMED ONES. Isn’t there some additional funding to be sought from somewhere. I love the show so much but i hope the WB will at least have another season!
Also, if their aren’t going to be new episodes after this season, I hope they will do re-runs every Sunday night. Another reason why i don’t want it to go is because i want to see what happens to Wyatt and Chris to see if he turns evil or not and if Piper dies when Chris turns 14.
It will be sad to see “Charmed” go! I really love that show! It is a shame that it doesn’t show in Canada (at least in Ottawa) anymore!!! However, I will be sure to buy all the seasons! I believe, it is a show that can never be replaced, and that I can enjoy again and again!
